I am playing through Dark Kni-.. Ahem.. Batman: Arkham Asylum !


This game has been one of the most highly anticipated titles of the year. I can't believe I got it early.. So, because of my incredible luck and because I am trying to play and write at the same time.. you'll get this poorly thrown together review!!

Story:
Batman has just captured his arch-enemy, The Joker. Having delivered him to Arkham's gates, Batman decides to escort him further inside after having realized that "he gave up almost without a fight" and that there might be more to this than whats on the surface. Shortly after a tense moment with 'Killer Croc' and a few elevator rides The Joker springs his trap. Taking over the facility by locking most of the security out and releasing all of the inmates inside, his most elaborate plan to do away with Batman and cause chaos yet (as far as video games go) is under way!


Controls:
Batman controls like an asshole tank.. he's so stiff an-.. I'm kidding with you.
Batman controls and moves like the Dark Knight. He's almost perfect! His animations are fluid. His attacks are sharp and look devastating His gadgets have at least two applications, one battle wise and one environment wise. He can analyze his surroundings for just about any clues, false walls, pipe tobacco, hell even whiskey on someone's breath.. and it all controls like a dream!

Settings/Atmosphere:
Beautifully detailed shit! This place is crammed with detail and decay on so many levels. As I play it it's earning a spot on an upcoming top ten most beautiful games. There are sooo many small details and minor set pieces. The untended to grass.. signs of past battles and slaughters and halls littered with dead guards. From the natural untended to foliage, to the poorly cleaned operating room, this place oozes a creepy atmosphere and comic book style noir that is among the top in gaming.


This review is unfinished but.. so far.. I'd give Batman a Better than Sex on the Spill scale!
