Bachelorette Review: I didn't laugh once.

This movie is crap. I should just leave as that, because that is seriously all you need to know. It is rare for a movie to have you hate every character, and sit through it trying to find something good about the script/acting/directing and still come up with nothing. The best I can say about Bachelorette is that director Leslye Headland knows how to hold a camera and edit a film. Headland previously worked on the TV show Terriers, which I have yet to see but hear great things about, however watching this really makes me hesitant to look at that show. I went into this with no expectations and actually expecting a Bridesmaid clone. I would have settled for a Bridesmaid clone. This film fails at everything Bridesmaid did right. But I know you're saying "hey wait, shouldn't you take a movie by its own merits" and it is still an extremely bad movie. It's not enough of just being a bad movie, this movie annoyed me so much, I had to restrain myself from turning it off.

So on its own merits, as a comedy it just wasn't funny and that is it's biggest problem. Sure you can have all your characters be the biggest assholes in the world and if they are funny then the movie won't fail because they are still likeable to a degree (Ex. Stifler in American Pie). The story is about 4 friends Regan (Kirsten Dunst), Becky (Rebel Wilson), Gena (Lizzy Caplan) and Katie (Isla Fisher) who all come back together for Becky's wedding after not having the group together in a while. Regan (Dunst) is jealous that Becky is getting married before her because of the group Becky (Wilson) isn't the most attractive, and every character makes it a point to tell you that Becky is fat. Gena (Caplan) is a free spirited coke head who is unsure about going to the wedding because her ex will be there, played by Adam Scott. And then there is Katie (Fisher) who works retail and is basically a dumb blonde with red hair and is also a coke head, oh and all are bulimic, which apparently is hilarious.
So a night before the wedding, the bachelorette and bachelor parties are going on, and an argument breaks up the bachelorette party leaving Regan, Katie and Gena to themselves. Coked out Regan and Katie decide to both try to fit into Becky's wedding dress and end up ripping it. The rest of the film is them trying to fix the dress before the wedding the next morning. Character's would say things that sound like the set up for a punchline and then you realize that what they said was their punchline. About 35 minutes in, I gave up trying to find humor in this movie and instead looked at it as a drama and even then it was so predictable and annoying. Characters would pull out cameras randomly and say stuff like "this is going on Facebook" The film also features an appearance by James Marsden and like every character in the movie he adds nothing. The acting I don't want to call garbage only because with what they were given I don't know how they could have made it good. There is seriously a chick OD'ing towards the end of the movie and the actors/script act like it is supposed to be part of a joke, yet there is nothing that makes it humorous. I love gross out, crude humor but to be crude constantly with no pay off, just makes the viewer hate all your characters because they all come off as irredeemable bitches.

0/10 - Without a doubt the worst film I have seen this year, and people that say Twilight is the worst movie have no idea. I am shocked that some critics liked this movie, then again comedy is subjective. If you enjoyed this film, let me know what you liked about it because I couldn't find anything and I was really looking.
