Are 3 new "GOOD" R rated action movies coming soon?

Hurt Locker...

I haven't seen this movie yet but it is rated R and was directed by one of my favorite directors and hands down one of the greatest action movie directors of all time, Ms. Kathryn Bigelow. To know Ms. Bigelow's previous work is to love her, I am talking about such classics as Near Dark, Point Break, Blue Steel, Strange Days, All These Movies were rated R and had balls so when I saw the trailer for Hurt Locker and found out she was attached to it I kind of got a little bit excited. I realized that this was perhaps her first "art house" movie which means this won't be pretentious bullshit but a raw, uncompromising, and honest take on war in the middle east with the soldiers whose job requires them to take the risk of being blown away. However, I am living in NC so I probably will have to download this shit because nothing independent comes here unless its Oscar season.

Daybreakers...

Let me just say I grew up with vampires and wow have they been fucked over this decade starting with the shitty Underworld Series, and with this decade coming to an end, it will conclude with the just as shitty Twilight movie New Moon. Vampires in my day were ferocious, violent, blood thirsty, and overly sexed up. I grew up with serial killer Jerry Dandridge from Fright Night and his fucked up Sister from the sequel, Grace Jones as katrina the queen of the undead in Vamp, a Dracula who would try and kill (if he had succeeded) the kids from The Monster Squad
, and my favorite vampire david the blood thirsty leader of The Lost Boys. Oh yeah please don't say 30 Days of Night was a good movie because that movie was fucking garbage too and Let the Right One In was good (this might upset some people) but I didn't think the movie was all that great because I read the book and that hurt the movie for me because Hakan in the book is one of the most ruthless blood craving creatures I’ve read on a page in a long time.

With all that being said Daybreakers is coming next year and it feels like they were inspired by the Richard Matheson novel I AM LEGEND. The Movie looks like a straight up R rated violent flick (it hasn't been confirmed yet but lionsgate rarely releases PG-13 horror films). This has me very excited because it is going back to vampires as the ruthless animals they are but it explores the idea of a society under complete vampire rule which is something I can honestly say i've never seen before.

Gamer...

Let’s face it the day of the action hero is dead there are no more Arnies or Slys, the closest you will get to the mans
"action" man is on a video game playing such characters as Marcus Fenix from Gears of War or Master Chief from Halo. Video games have filled in the gap for the lame ass pg-13 action flicks that have bombarded our movie theaters and I’m sorry Vin Diesel and The Rock are no Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger. I’m talking about watching action movies where ever word ended in MOTHERFUCKER, cars being blown up, dudes getting shot to hell without question and the plot, though very stupid, still felt believable and im sorry guys if you think Live Free or Die Hard or Terminator Salvation is in the same vein as the original movies your wrong...and yes you Fail if you do.

Gamer looks like the closest we will get to a good video game movie for now. It feels like running man in the new millennium and societies need to sit down and escape the usual day to day living in order to immerse ourselves in characters that we will never become in real life seems to be a huge part of the plot. I am also amped up for this movie because it does really feel like im going to be able to watch a guy movie that doesn't need me to think to much but doesn't think im the typical ass-hat film goer who doesn't have any sense of what a dumb fun is suppose to be versus mentally handicaped/you didn't even try to make this a little bit more intelligent fun.

Lets just hope that I am not being fooled once again by good trailers

I'm definitely looking forward to The Hurt Locker. It's got a 97% "Fresh" rating at Rotten Tomatoes and I sure hope The Spill Crew reviews it.

The problem is audiences have stayed away from Iraq based war flicks like it's swine flu and that title sure isn't going to help.
