If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Disclaimer: This is not to offend certain Christian groups nor to anger those who were betting on yesterday being the end of the world. Instead, this is very lighthearted comments on how we missed another Apocalypse date with nothing happening. So with that said, make sure to scroll down to read my words.
The End of the World. Something that has been creeping on us ever since we have been born. An unavoidable truth that will fascinate as well as terrify. An idea that was said to be yesterday? Who would say that? Oh, I know, the unfortunate fools that follow the Christian group Family Radio, which sounds more like a radio station than a branch of the church in my opinion.
If I can say anything about them, I can understand their ideas 'cause they were founded on this idea. The man behind this is Harold Camping, a former civil engineer who was looking through the Bible, noticing that there were numbers in the holy book (which are not really cryptic code in my opinion) and thinking, "Why would God have these numbers in it?" So he studied it, found out, in his mind, that these numbers are clues to when the Rapture and the Apocalypse will occur. Using the date of the Great Flood that Noah survived in the context of history, he deduced that God would end the world 7000 years after it because he read of God bringing rain in seven days and that a day is like 1000 years to him. So with that "proof", he predicted the end to be September 1994, then May 21st 2011, and as of the 22nd of May, both times came to pass with no Rapture.
As for that, he predicted recently that at 6:00 PM in each timezone starting with whatever timezone the Christmas Islands are in, he said that those who belied in God would be swept up into Heaven while those left behind will be hit by a devastating earthquake that will travel west around the world (something science can clearly debunk) and the world will be incinerated 5 months later. If I can get a shout out from the world to see if anyone is okay and has knowledge of no person Raptured, that would be great to know. Because 6:00 PM came and went for me with nothing happening to me except watching some Disney Channel show not really worth watching (my time and interest in doing stuff was Raptured at that moment, unfortunately, but I got it back). With this in mind, now I know that the man was clearly wrong and that praying for his poor luck should be a priority to those Christians who thought his intentions were for the common good, a reason for Family Radio's existence. If you decide not to, is it because you see Camping as a false prophet?
Now if you excuse me, I need to do homework, practice guitar, and get ready for my chance to see that Family Guy parody of Return of the Jedi that's airing tonight.
