If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Approximately three years ago, I posted an open thank you letter to the Spill Crew. Korey had just had his famous on air meltdown and I wanted to put up something to tell him "Hey, at the end of the day, you've done a good thing." I was honored to have the letter become my first featured blog on spill, and was thrilled by the tremendous outpouring of positivity as other spillios shared their own experiences and thoughts on what the site meant to them.
It is for that reason that I post this open blog instead of messaging Cyrus, Leon, Fungusmonkey, or any of the other members directly. I am by no means a terribly active member on the site, but with the unfortunate news regarding the upcoming cancellation of the League of Extremely Ordinary Gentlemen, I need to say something to each and every member of the League and I hope others join me in saying it. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I thank you for Harris' Anime Corner, for allowing me to re-live memories of watching shows like Robo-Tech as a child, and it is the only reason the Astro Boy boxed set is currently sitting on my dresser. I thank you, because, more often than not, the League has been my primary source of information in the world of Comics, TV, and movies. I thank you because the League is the reason I can't wait for the day NetFlix Canada gets Season Three of Justified, the desire to finally sit down and check out Game of Thrones, and introducing me to Archer.
Perhaps most importantly though, I need to say thank you to the League for the following:
Why, you likely ask, do I feel the need to thank the members of the LEOG for everything I've just listed? Listed above are some of the most life changing and/or positive experiences I have gone through in the last three years. Every ... single ... thing I listed there happened for one reason and one reason only. Volume 4, Episode 7 of the LEOG. The Doctor Who episode that inspired me to sit down and watch Doctor Who.
So Cyrus, Leon, Cat, Harris, Brian, Rubio, Peter, Grant, Beau, Kayla, Jason, Randy, Johnny Neill, Joe, Fish, Nakato, Greg, Allison, and any other League members I haven't thought of, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
And as there is only one appropriate way, to close a letter to the League, I do so by saying this. The League as it's fans know it is dead. LONG LIVE THE LEAGUE!!
