If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Director Adam Shankman has confirmed via Twitter that '30 Rock' star Alec Baldwin will be starring in his new film 'Rock of Ages'. Baldwin joins fellow castmembers Tom Cruise, Mary J Blige and Julianne Hugh in the film adaptation of the big-haired Broadway musical about a small town girl (Hugh), who obsesses over an arrogant rockstar (Cruise) while slowly falling for an up-and-coming regular schmo in a fictional late-80's LA club called "The Bourbon". Baldwin will play Dennis Dupree, owner of The Bourbon.
Shankman tweeted, "So, based on info I got today, I'm gonna confirm Alec Baldwin as Dennis in Rock Of Ages. Hollah." He then added, "Can't wait to start #rockofagesmovie. Julianne Hough, alec Baldwin, Mary j Blige, Tom cruise confirmed. I love my cast. More to come."
The "more to come" that Shankman mentions could be Anne Hathaway, Russell Brand and/or Gwyneth Paltrow, who are all still in rumored negotiations for roles in the film. Featuring music by Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Asia, 'Rock of Ages' is set to be released in 2012.
