'Quantum of Solace' Breaks Product Placement Record

Source: Filmonic

Companies have reportedly spent over $79 million on placing their products in the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace.

The new record breaks the previous record of $55 million for fellow Bond film Die Another Day.

Some of the film's advertisers are Ford Motor Company, Heineken, Smirnoff, Omega Watches, Virgin Atlantic planes, Sony Ericsson cell phones and other Sony electronics.

I think it's also broken the record for most blog postings about something I could care less about (that would be product placement in Quantum of Solace, which Leon had a giant rant on the front page about last week)... If it's as blatant as the product placement in Wayne's World, then I might take note, but from what I'm reading the movie's pretty damn good (from what's on RottenTomatoes so far), so I'll wait and see before I start freaking out about products being placed in mega budget movies

And of all those, you didn't include Aston Martin, the most obvious one to put on the list... Oh wait, that's ok with you? Good to know you can allow some product placement, got me worried there

What I find so funny, is that Smirnoff vodka has been going crazy with their commerical connections to Bond's latest movie, when the director has already come out with the news that Bond's NOT going to be drinking his trademark Vodka Martini's (Shaken, not stirred)
