With Disaster movie coming out which is parodying every movie under the sun. I though I would give you a top 5 list of the best parody movies so you will have a chance to see a much better parody movie.

Number 5. Hot Fuzz The movie poster itself is a parody of bad boys 2 The movie even mentions bad boys 2 as well as many other buddy cop movies. This movie parodies buddy cop movie as well as having amazing action sequences which are essential in buddy cop movies. This movie takes the idea of a cop that is so good that instead of having him team up and solve a hard case they send him away to a small town because he is making all the other cop look bad. This is the opposite of every other buddy cop movie plot. That's what makes it so funny. The great thing about this movie is that it is funny and action packed.

Number 4. Austin Powers International Man of Mystery

Long before love guru Mike Myers made very funny movies. This movie is a parody of the many 007 James bond movies. The idea of this movie is a British spy from the 60's is frozen in the 60's and thawed out in the 90's . It is a fish outta watter story. The funny thing about this movie is the big differences of the two decades. If you brought a 60's James Bond into the 90's he could not do things and act the way he did in the 60's. Anther great thing about this movie is the uses of outdated bad special effects. You get to see how much technology has changed and how different fantasy technology of the 60's is to the real technology of today.

Number 3. Shawn of the Dead

Yes , another Simon Pegg movie. What can I say the man is a genius. This movie is a parody of Dawn of the Dead
as well as many other zombie movies. This movie takes the idea of zombies and makes it funny. This movie is as the British say " Brilliant ! " Not only do you laugh at the characters but you feel there pain and frustration as well. I actually cried when ( spoiler ) Shawn's mother died.

Number 2. Airplane !
The original Disaster movie. This movie is a parody of old disaster movies of the 50's. This movie is the definition of Murphy's law. Everything that can go wrong does go wrong. That is what makes it so funny. Every imposable thing that might happen just so happens to happen in this movie. ( I know , too many happens. ) The only logical thing to happen ( The airplane crashing. ) does not happen.

Number 1. Spaceballs
Spaceballs is a parody of star wars and other science fiction movies. Spaceballs is one of the funniest movies ever made. The story is much like star wars but so funny. One of the funniest moments is when yogurt ( an obvious knockoff of Yoda ) tells the main characters about merchandising. This scene is so funny because it is true. That's how George Lucas made his real money.

Honorable mention goes to Naked Gun for another good cop movie parody and Balls of Fury for kung fu movie parody. Balls of Fury is not that funny or good but it fallows the rules of a good kung fu movie like a good parody should.
One Christmas I received "Scary Movie" on DVD as a gift from my friends. The next week I took it to a store that buys, sells, and trades DVDs. I got $5.00 for it. I think I riped the guy off. From then on I vowed to not see any movie with the word "movie" in the title. Except for the Simpson's Movie. That was pretty good. All Scary Movie was was one bad gag after another over a Scream knock off script. The moral of the story is ... If you are going to make a parody movie stick to parodying one movie or one genre. Number two have characters that we care about. Number three don't just have gag after gag after gag after gag............
