It doesn't matter what YOU thought of the two Fantastic Four
movies (especially that second one-ugh!), they still racked up $300 million in domestic box office. You'd think it'd be a given that there'll be more to come. Well, according to Chris
"the Human Torch" Evans
, that's not the case.
“I’m pretty sure we won’t do [another] one. I’m assuming that one is a closed book.”
It's not even because the actors are being difficult. Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis have expressed a strong desire to come back for “FF3,” each one even going so far as to offer up a preferred storyline. But it’s not the storylines that worries Evans, he insists, it’s the fact that they have to offer it up the storylines at all, he told MTV News
“After the first one was released we got wind of potential titles and plots [almost immediately], and I’ve heard nothing from anyone at Fox [yet],” he grumbled. “We had all planned on doing [another] one but if there were going to be a third I think a week after the second one was released we would have heard.”
Normally I might dismiss this as the rantings of an idle actor who's trying to get some
heat going on their project, but what makes Chris Evans cool (besides proving that he can be a good actor in 'SUNSHINE') is that even last year his was willing to speak candidly about the FF films.
“I still think this can be something great, and I think we are getting closer,” he said at the time. “”I think that if [”FF2″] does ok and people respond with the appreciation of a more serious tone, hopefully [with] the third one we can inch closer to a legitimate cast and a legitimate film.
Gosh, no more Fantastic Four movies??? I wonder how the public will react to that...
Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel about it, too.
