Now less than five minutes ago, I found out that there is going to be a third Mummy movie (4th if you count Scorpion King, which I dont technically consider a Mummy movie). Now I enjoy all three Mummy movies, as flawed as they are. In fact, they might be some of my favorite movies I've ever seen.

So naturally, I was excited to find out about a third Mummy. So I went to IMDB to find out more. There I found out two things UNBELIEVABLY wrong with this movie. The first being that the movie will NOT take place in Egypt. Come on Hollywood, Egypt worked perfectly in the first two Mummy movies, why do you have to take it somewhere else?

After this, I found out that the movie would take place in China, and my hopes were lightened. China is always a cool place to have a setting. And throwing in Egypt mythology with Chinese Samurais and other stuff could be very cool and could work if it's done right.

Then I found out the second thing wrong with this senario: Arnold Vosloo will not be in the third Mummy movie. No, they arent getting a new actor to play Imhotep, they are COMPLETELY excluding Imhotep from the third movie. Thats right, THEY ARE MAKING A MUMMY MOVIE WITHOUT THE ORIGNAL MUMMY!

I'll give you a moment to let this sink in........

Ok, now that Hollywood has ruined something dear to my heart, this movie better be great. It probably wont be, but if it does end up great by some miracle, I can forgive all of the above things. Until then, The Mummy series is dead to me.

...I'm sorry Lovey, but does the world even need another Mummy movie? There are other franchises to focus on like the Hobbit Prequel that never was!

Whatever, Kent. You are honestly making a big deal out of nothing and I'm done with this arguement. You are trying to pick a fight and I'm not going to sink to your level.

As for MOVIELORD101, you make a good point. I have no doubt that Jet Li will be good in the movie. However, that alone will not make it a good movie. And I didnt say that the movie wouldnt be good either, my main complaint is that Imhotep will not be returning.

I dont give a damn how good or bad an actor Arnold Vosloo is, to me he fit the role of Imhotep and did a good job with it. If Jet Li Does a good job, more power to him, but that is not going to change the fact that Imhotep isnt in the third mummy movie. Maybe I'm being rediculous, but to me thats like taking Darth Vader out of Return of the Jedi.

All I am saying is that MAYBE this movie will be good. However, the absence of Arnold Vosloo is already, at least for me, making me think negatively about the movie.

jon,

first of all, this is old news to ALL of us, so i don't know where you've been lately. Secondly, i figured that we won't be seeing Egypt OR Imhotep for the umpteenth time (if you count that stupid animated show from Kids WB). I find that the decision to make China the new setting is a great idea (i've never seen a Chinese mummy, but, hey, they'll make it work), as well as making an entirely new character played by...JET LI!!! When i heard that Jet Li was gonna be in this, i was like "W000000T! SCREW FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, JET LI WILL ROCK IN MUMMY 3!" (I use the geek speek phrase "W000T!" on my posts as my way of substitution "Yay" or "Woo-hoo!", just so you guys here on Spill think i say it just to be annoying when i'm not. ok?) Still, let's just wait and see what the trailer brings us. This is being written by the CREATORS OF "SMALLVILLE" (F*K the Superboy comics and the "Birthright" miniseries! "Smallville" is the ONE TRUE SUPERMAN ORIGIN STORY! btw, it's a great show, and you should see it if you like Superman), so this should hopefully make up for that dis-ASS-ter that was "Stealth" (yup, same director as that and the original "Triple-X").

Well, i think you should go easy on him. I pointed out the Chinese Samurai thing as a freindlly jab. Remember, we can all have diffrent opinions here. I've been a spillio for a while and i should like to think that everyone shoudl be freinds with everyone. Maybe i'm jsut being idealistic and J***ing myself aorund, but who cares.

Chinese Mummies do seem liek they'd be scarier than egyptian ones...

Imagine an Chinese Mummy and his Army or Tera Cotta minions...sweeeeet...

Slow the F down Kent, i never said anything about mummies being only in Rgypt. In fact, some the oldest known Mumified remains are from China.

I love the history Channel...

Woah woah woah, I never said that Egypt was the only place in the world with mummies, dont put words in my mouth.

Second of all, I never commented on Rachel Weiz because at least the character is returning. Sure theyre losing and Acadamy award winning actress, but there is a chance (however slim it might be) that the new actress could put out an equally good or possibly better portrayal of the character.

Thirdly, no I didnt know that samurais come from Japan and not China. I dont research this stuff before I post, and I dont see how this makes my complaints unfounded if I expect a three movie series that took place in Egypt to continue the series in Egypt. What if the third Pirates of the Carribean movie suddenly took place in outer space? What if Return of the Jedi suddenly took place in the middle of the Third Crusades? The change of settings would be unessesary and confuse the audience.

Egypt is rich enough in culture and myth to cast a hundred movies in that setting. China is too, but if Egypt is just as rich in culture, why change the setting?

Frankly, I find your tone demeaning, Kent. If you disagree with me, fine, but dont talk down to me like I'm a fool, because I know I'm not.
