@Didaz I agree a 100%
Also, this is a Better than Sex for me.
Really hate when people say you only like a certain movie because of this or that. Bitch you don't know me.
“12 Years a Slave” Review: With Zero White Guilt, Asian, it is not as good people say!
12 Years a Slave review: Wow..................just wow is all I have to say about director Steve McQueen's 2013 historical drama based on the book by Solomon Northup. Northup is played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, and leads a cast of talented performers like Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Sarah Paulsen.
In 1841, Northup is New York family man with a boy, girl and a loving wife, until approached by two white men (and very arrogantly I might add) to utilize his violin skills for profit. Only does Solomon realize he has been had, lost his family and sold to a Washington slave pit till picked up by Paul Giamatti (playing his role from 2001's Planet of the Apes as a slave owner, except here I want to hit him sooooooo hard, that's my feelings with alotta people here.) Solomon aka "Platt" is sold to Ford, a compassionate Baptist priest and he's Benedict Cumberbatch. Tensions flare with Solomon and punch-bucket Paul Dano, and after he beats Dano like a punk that he is, Ford gets him outta there to protect him. Problem is Solomon has entered the 7th circle of Hell, the Epps plantation owned by a vicious, evil nasty son of a bitch played by Sarah Paulsen AND her husband, the equally evil, drunk, rape-y Michael Fassbender. Solomon survives and we see his tragic true story in this film. Brad Pitt comes in later and plays a very crucial role as Bass, a compassionate Canadian carpenter that helps Solomon.
God, this film is well bleak, depressing, sad, anger-filled and I.............admire that a film like this is still made once and a while. It's a cold hard truth that Slavery did happen and it's not a pretty site. Hans Zimmer does a great, moan-full job as the composer and the acting is.........AMAZING. You feel for Solomon through hope and hell, and by God you feel the HATE for these bad guys that I haven't felt in a long, long time. Everyone hear deserves an award, even Dano, and they don't play it safe, it's a mean tale. I will never watch this film again, b/c it was a very hard film to sit in a crowded theater and be silent for the entire film.
Other actors include Alfie Woodward, Christopher Berry, Chris Chalk, and Lupita Nyong'o. I will give this film a FULL PRICE.
How come none of the movie theaters in my area are carrying this movie? I wanted to see it opening day, but one of my theaters said that they will not be getting the movie in until November 8th. What is the deal with that?
My family is first generation African, so while Korey and Leon's ancestors were picking cotton, my ancestors were drinking Guinness.
Before I listen to this review, this looks to be a classic movie about man's wicked cruelty to his fellow man. Lets see if it is.
'Come and See' also a bruuuutal experience!
