It was fun watching Sly and Arnie get together, though Arnold looked like he was having a blast and Stallone needed to loosen up a bit. Lots of plotholes, not the greatest action flick out there, but it is what it is.
The movie lost me when the narrator on the commercial said: "In the near future."
After that, I just groaned.

Escape Plan review: Grumpy Old Men Prison Edition vs Jesus in this 2013 action film starring two people you can barley understand at points, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sly Stallone. Also starring Jim Caviezel as the psychoitc and suave warden, and Vincent D'Onofrio.
Stallone is Ray Breslin, a Houdini prison escapee who specializes in "prison escapes", when in reality all he does is set up and study the structure of the facility and finds holes and exposes them to the warden with help from D'Onofrio, (his business-partner) and they make money off of this knowledge, yeah odd hobby but i digress. So his partner makes a deal with the CIA to test out a new "unescapable" prison for alotta money. So he gets backstabbed and sent int othe Prison anyway called The Tomb, and teams up with Ah nold to escape.
Full of bad dialouge and bad Shawshank tropes, the film is just bad, and not even in a enjoyable bad just incompetant. Stallone is supposed to be a "master of escaping" and you never get the feeling of him being that. When he speaks and sounds smart i just can't buy it, and that's where it starts to fail, you fall into them just talking and talking like it's art, when the people paying want them to trade insults, one liners and kill people. While i left doe to an emergency and missed the last 20 to 30 minutes, i seriously doubt anything could have salvaged this, even the action which is filmed up close. The bad guys are just there, and even has some funny moments esp with Arnold praying in German and calling the Warden Caviezel "the devil", and so on, the film is not worh the star power that the wanning stars used to have. And let us never forget Sly's sideckick, in-matge 50 Cent (HAHAHAHAHAHA) as a tech-inmate who Ray freed and made him work for him. Really??? And what's even lazier is the Prison/Tomb is not impressive and never taken full advantage of a decent premise.
Other actors inlcude Sam Niell (surprised as i was in the theater), goon Vinnie Jones as VINNIE JONES tm, Fahar Tahir, Amy Ryan as the useless love interest/partner, Matt Gerald and Caitriona Balfe. Escape Plan is a LOW Rental., This is definettly not the star's finest hour and really is not needed.
your wish is fulfilled
I just saw this today. I really puzzles me when reviewers say, "I had no idea what was going on." It often makes me wonder if they actually have seen a movie they are "reviewing" The plot is simple and easy to follow. "twist" was easy to figure out. Thie is a rental for most people. I had to go see it though. Love me some Ahhnuld.
I still enjoyed this movie. It's not terrible, its just a A-B-C-D Plot script. I give it a high rental. WHY U GOTTA HATE LEON!?
These last few reviews were great, could tell you guys had a lot of fun with them. Gonna have a hard time picking the video review for the week, lots of good sound bytes
