* note first part of my comments was actual research. last part was a rant from memory so facts may not line up. but what evvs.
well i know this is practically over, but so far as the whole dmc petition goes.
now this picture was made on the 22 of jan. and the very first comment on this article was made by a gamespot forum poster from mexico as an attempt to mock the anti-DmC faction, on jan 20th, at 2:15 pm. http://www.gamespot.com/dmc-devil-may-cry/forum/looks-like-theres-a... . now i cant say that, without a doubt, this person is the one who made the petition. But what i can say is that this brings into question that a man, from mexico, found a white house petition, on the same day it was posted, and then was the first person to post mocking comments about it. especially since google sections their searches based on the area you are located.
what i can say is that it took me 5 mins to find this information (just a google search on the petition, then a google search on the petition using date sorting). we really need to get together as a society and fix video game journalism! just google "video game journalism" and "ethics", then realize how much shit some of these people are full of....present company excluded of course :-).
lastly as far as capcom dropping dmc because it wasnt profitable... i dont think thats really the case. like you said DMC 2 sucks, but that's because capcom did not let the creator work on it. DMC 1 &3 were developed by hideki kamiya(look him up. he is basically capcoms greatest hits), he also worked on half of 4 until the director of DMC 2 took over(as the legend goes (no real proof), directors credit shows Hideaki Itsuno as the leading force of DMC 2, 4 and now DmC. you can see how fans of the series weren't too assured when he was announced to help DmC), in the end DMC 4's development time was cut dramatically. Its initial vision was for two different story-lines for both dante and nero as well as more weapons for nero, but anger between hideki kamiya and capcom had come to a boiling point and hideki left the company to help platinum. as far as the reboot goes, i think it was more capcom needed to reboot the series because there was no way they could continue it without hideki, and there is no way platinum games would willingly work for capcom again.
im sorry for any grammar mistakes but i dont really proof read.
Comment by Lorenzo Moran on January 30, 2013 at 8:11pm Just today Netherrealm announced that Injustice is gonna have the to play with either the Mortal Kombat scheme (directional) or the Street Fighter scheme (fluid, half/quarter circles motion). This game was in the running for being the 8th game at Evo but it didn't get enough money in the donation drive for breast cancer research to even be a nominee especially with Super Smash Bros. Melee, Skullgirls and My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic taking the lead with over $5,000 for each of them (Melee has over 28k, Skullgirls has over 26k and MLP with over 6k).
Back on the topic of Injustice, I believe in this game being very successful. The plot is being called "the most ambitious fighting game ever" and the fact that you'll be able to play both the hero and villain sides of the story, the character design and play structure is very interesting, the characters they're announcing are damn good so far and above all else Netherrealm has had a good track record so far with MK 9 still alive to this day, noting that it'll return to Evo this year.
Comment by Proper Dave on January 30, 2013 at 8:08pm That's on a WIN 7 box by the way.
Comment by Proper Dave on January 30, 2013 at 8:07pm Here is what I do to play older games for free.
I use DOS BOX which is a dos emulator and D-Fend Reloaded which is a profile manager for dos-box.
Then I go to Abandonia - System Shock and download what I want and load it up using d-fend.
Here's a screen shot of System Shock running in DOS-BOX, it runs great by the way.

Comment by Burnham420 on January 30, 2013 at 11:58am Full throttle was a badass game, one of my favourite pc games when I was a kid.
Comment by Charles Rocchi on January 30, 2013 at 12:17am As someone who thought that DmC was a fine game (Bargain Bin), I will say this about the whole reboot/continuation issue. While Jeff is right in saying that, as a reboot, DmC has that freedom to stray away from the original and try new things, there was a time when that wasn't the case. When the game was first announced I believe, it was pretty much stated that the game took place in the same universe and would be, essentially, a prequel to 3. It was only really when new gameplay trailers from last year were being released that NT and Capcom confirmed that it wasn't a prequel, but in fact a reboot/alternate universe (which I remember also got mixed up in some interviews). That said, the ending to the game seems to open itself up to acting as a prequel to 3 (sort of, barring everything else that was established). So while getting upset about the issue now seems somewhat childish, I can see how that resentment could linger.
