2013 will bring us a sequel to 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and remakes of both 'Carrie' and 'Evil Dead.' The marketing for Fede Alvarez's 'Evil Dead' has been pretty brash so far; at times declaring itself "the most terrifying film you will ever experience." This latest red-band trailer seems bent on furthering that conviction. I'm still dubious, but I will admit there is some stunning imagery here and I like the callbacks to Raimi's film. My biggest problem is still the fact that the overly severe tone sold in the trailers for the remake seems at odds with the darkly comedic original. Take a look at the red-band trailer below and let us know what you think.

This trailer is extremely overrated. These scenes are either the same shit that you saw in evil dead or in other horror films just with more blood to sell to audiences. This seems to be made for a quick check to Raimi just in case his oz film bombs. I just wish I could give this film a FUCK YOU!!!

I just read an article stating that no CGI was used in this movie. Personally, I think that is awesome!

I think this movie is definitely going to direction of the first Evil Dead. The first one isn't supposed to be a dark comedy like it's sequels are, in fact part 1 still scares the shit out of me. This trailer makes the movie look very promising

I think there's still opportunity for them to be funny. I don't think they would put that in the trailer simply because they don't want to confuse their target audience who are just want to see a scary movie.

I wanna like this film. I really do, but after so many disappointing remakes after another, I am at a crossroads with franchises being relaunched. I know they did that with dracula, the wolfman, and Frankenstein. But those movies were able to be made because they were based on books. These are all movies with memorable and creative effects made specifically for those films. Some movies were meant to be a product of its time, so I'm atleast hoping that it is a different evil dead with a different interpretation, but that still doesn't mean the movie is gonna be any good. The only way to know is watch it. If its good...cool.

I'm actually more excited after seeing this trailer. They definitely seem to be retaining the sheer batshit insanity of the first two films (the possessed girl cutting her tongue and then making out with the other girl, for example). It also looks great, visually.

@Don-p aka Captain F*ck you

But there is a scene where one of the girls chops her possessed arm off with a chainsaw, clearly a reference to Evil Dead II, and we also have an image of her using it. They are probably throwing these traits around so you'll keep on guessing as to "Who survives?"

Looks like it might be okay.
