Bayonetta runs at 60fps too. DmC runs at 30, and FEELS like 30...especially when command inputs lag...

You didn't address the obvious problem (of course, there are A LOT of problems) of having no challenge until having played through the game 2x. This was not an issue in DMC 4 because it was a genuine follow-up to the last game, but it also gave you a new character with his own complexity (the Exceed system) alongside Dante. You had two separate characters with different playing styles in one campaign. DmC only gives us this new iteration of Dante to deal with for the entire game.
So, again, what makes this new game worth $60 other than it being new?
Comment by Sgtcrispy on December 1, 2012 at 8:41pm Bayonettas speed is irrelevant. This is DMC, it should live up to the combat of previous DMC titles and it falls short. I doubt they were influenced by Bayonetta, all their influence looks to come from Heavenly Sword. Which also had a lackluster combat system.
Comment by Sgtcrispy on December 1, 2012 at 8:35pm That's cool if you found it easy on DMD mode. That doesn't change the fact that it's far more difficult than this game's DMD mode which barely offers a challenge. Except getting a SSS rank is easy as piss in this game, it's based on damage so you don't have to switch up your moves.
Case in point:
Seriously, look at that. He's getting SSS from spamming the same move.
Also, you can stay in the air forever. Enemies blocking can easily be removed by shooting at them, or using a move, the name of it escapes me at the moment. Also, there's a reason people look to DMC3 as the definitive DMC game.

DMC 4 was easy as hell as well- i didnt even die in that son of sparda mode the first time i played it- however the difficulty in dmc like this one comes from going through the battles without getting hit and keeping up the momentum to reach and maintain a sss rank. The same applies here.
Also like the guy said u cant stay in the air grappling ppl because the enemies block and are in devil trigger mode so u gotta land sometime. and when u land u get bombard in true dmc style. Truth be told the only punishing dmc was 3 and tht was because of the slipup of the normal mode being the japanese hard mode and the game being pushed to be as difficult as ninja gaiden.

Your logic is faulty as hell. Dante Must Die is an unlockable difficulty that would require multiple playthroughs to acquire, as you know. It's been announced that Son of Sparda mode also has to be unlocked first.
So, how the fuck does it even begin to make sense that I should have to play through the entire game at least twice in order to begin potentially experiencing a challenge? You're literally suggesting that I would have to play full campaigns before I ever got my money's worth...

Brea was showing that you can juggle enemies in the air infinitely with jump cancelling, ensuring that you're never hit because of how easy it is to stay airborne. They're taking Nero's grapple but removing styles to make them more basic into stances. This is hardly depth, it's making it far more simple. There's no reason to remove lock-on, it makes it so you don't know which enemy you'll hit.
I don't know what games you've been playing, this game looks incredibly slow-paced in comparison to previous games in the DMC franchise.
Also, watching that video DMD mode doesn't look very difficult at all, again especially in comparison to the previous installments of the series. Those players aren't very good either and they're not doing terribly. The enemies give you tons of time to evade them and you can't be attacked while airborne, which is incredibly easy to be. Look at him, he gets in trouble, jumps in the air and just keeps grappling enemies up to him to kill them.
Comment by sinshenlong on December 1, 2012 at 5:09pm Also note that as awesome as brea is- and he/she is indeed an epic player she is using jump cancelling wrong in this game- unlike previous dmcs the timing fo cancelling is a little delayed and u have to wait to helm breaker actually hits before cancelling it otherwise it doesnt count and it looks kinda stupid. U cant just spam it like it previous dmcs u have to use finesse. Now im not saying this game has better combat than dmc 3 or 4 tht remains to be seen bt i do think it has alot of depth more than any other western developed hack and slash out there- certainly more than god of war and its clones. The game has depth in terms of options- they are combining neros devil bringer abilities with dantes weapon switching abilities and putting it in one character- tht in itself is madness - im a fan of nero bt this version of dante looks and feels WAY more fun to play than nero did in dmc 4 even with the exceed maxact cancels *insert nerd talk about technical stuff here.* The lockon isnt tht much of a problem because i have played ninja gaiden arguably one of the top 5 hack and slash games ever made and that doesnt have a lock on system - so i dont see the problem here once u get used to it. Conversely. many games have lock on and are very shallow in comparison ahem Asuras Wrath - All in all wht this game does is compare 2 diff spheres of game design- you have the spectacle narrative based design of western games like god of war / prince or persia darksiders- fused with the high fast paced, technical combat of devilmaycry and bayonetta and if they iron out the glitches which seems like the case all now- this will make for one beast of a game. And unlike 90 % of hack and slash games out there this dmc game provides incentive to master the combat like a dmc should- so that when you are good at the game you LOOK GOOD playing it. Example of these guys below .
Comment by sinshenlong on December 1, 2012 at 4:55pm I usually don't comment on spill bt its dmc so i'll jump on it.
first for those saying this game is easy to play look at the footage of dante must die mode here.
