If it's crap ... We'll tell you

As the smoke from the Earth-shattering success of Joss Whedon's 'The Avengers' starts to clear, the focus returns to the followup Marvel sequels. 'Iron Man 3' recently began production in North Carolina and now it seems 'Thor 2' is starting to pick up steam as well. Months ago it was reported that Alan Taylor ('Game of Thrones') would be taking over as director and now it looks like Mads Mikkelsen ('Casino Royale') is in talks to play the film's villain, or at least one of the villains. The studio is being very hush hush about who specifically Mikkelsen may be playing, but with Tom Hiddleston's Loki apparently still having a major part in the sequel, it's quite possible that Mikkelsen will not be the principal baddie. 'Thor 2' will begin filming this summer with a proposed release date set for November 15th, 2013.
I'll be completely honest with you, apart from Loki and the Frost Giants, I have absolutely no concept of Thor's rogues gallery. I can make blind guesses as to who Mikkelsen might play, but it would be a regurgitation of names I read on Wiki or the Marvel Directory with no frame of reference for whether he would be a good fit for those various characters. That being said, Mikkelsen was an outstanding Bond villain and I think evil suits him quite well. He's got a sinister presence and can deliver verbal jabs at the hero with icy disdain. As much as I think Tom Hiddleston has done a dynamite job with Loki, we've had two Marvel movies now in which he's been the villain. Therefore I hope he isn't once again the chief antagonist in 'Thor 2.'
What do you guys think? Are you excited at the prospect of Mikkelsen playing the villain? Who do you think he might play?

Comment by Gregory Alford on May 28, 2012 at 1:15am @ Joshua Balcombs Bullshit!!! Valhalla Rising is the best Viking Movie ever made. Its one of those movies you have to see multiple times to get the understanding and the many different underlinings in it. Dont get me wrong the i love the Pusher Trilogy as well but their two different movies to compare
Comment by Mike B on May 27, 2012 at 6:30pm @Nikhil Agreed.. gripping performance, without any dialogue, Valhalla is great.
I'd imagine Thanos will at least have to be in a Stinger after the credits.
Comment by Jon Riddle on May 27, 2012 at 3:07pm My guess, just from looking at Mikkelsen's face, is he will play Malekith the Accursed, ruler of the Dark Elves.
Comment by Microshock on May 27, 2012 at 3:19am Anyone that was in Casino Royale is an amazing addition to ANY movie. Seriously, everyone in that movie is AAA.

Comment by Nikhil Sunil on May 26, 2012 at 5:08am Fantastic actor. Watched "Valhalla Rising" recently. He gives a hell of a performance in that film.
I know Thanos isn't going to be the main villain in the film but Id love to see him atleast make an appearance (preferably for longer than he appeared in the avengers).

Comment by Agent Zero on May 26, 2012 at 12:35am Thor 2 just became bad-ass
Comment by Blackharp on May 25, 2012 at 10:21pm The only two Thor villains I can see working in a film would be The Enchantress and Sutur. I doubt they'll ever make a Sutur movie but it would be FUCKING AMAAAAZING! Maybe something with Kurse and the Dark Elves like they did in the animated film could work too but they already did a story with The Casket of Ancient Winters so, I unno. I'm pretty nervous for the next Thor movie.
