It looks as if the next installment of the rip-roaring, road-racing 'The Fast & The Furious' franchise is looking to add an additional woman's touch. Former MMA fighter Gina Carano (who starred in Steven Soderbergh's 'Haywire' earlier this year) is currently in talks to join the cast of 'Fast & Furious 6.' The film, which will again be directed by Justin Lin, also sees the return of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Reportedly, Carano would be playing a member of The Rock's Diplomatic Security Service team. Carano will next be seen in John Stockwell's 'In The Blood' about a woman who's husband goes missing during their honeymoon. No word yet as to an official deal being finalized. 'Fast & Furious 6' is due in theaters May 24, 2013.
This is spectacular news. If you haven't seen 'Haywire,' I highly recommend that you do. What you'll see is a gorgeous woman with natural acting grace and talent who can also kick a boatload of ass. You wouldn't expect an MMA fighter to walk on to her first starring role in a film and knock it completely out of the park, but that's exactly what Carano did. I'm not deluding myself that she'll have the same meaty dialogue or intricate plot to work with in 'Fast & Furious 6' as she did in 'Haywire,' but she can certainly stand toe-to-toe with any of the guys in the upcoming film on both the action and acting fronts. Is it too much to hope for that, given her "dance partners" in 'Haywire,' she has an honest-to-goodness throwdown with Vin Diesel in 'Fast & Furious 6?'
What do you guys think? Are you intrigued by this casting? Any Carano fans out there?

Comment by GodofThunder16 on April 25, 2012 at 11:35am @artastrophe I agree. I think we should see more of her. I just think that the role she was playing in Haywire wasn't asking her to be charasmatic, just like Matt Damon in the Bourne films.
Comment by Sight Gag on April 25, 2012 at 10:57am Oh man, Wonder Woman is going to kick Vin Diesel's ass.
Comment by artastrophe on April 25, 2012 at 9:02am @ GodofThunder16 she played the protagonist/hero of that action movie as well: as the lead role, she is the vehicle for drawing people into the story, and personally I was not at all drawn into Haywire and found Carano's performance/character rather shallow. Whether this was her fault or the director's fault or the writers' fault or some shortcoming on my part that left me unable to appreciate the movie overall is certainly debatable, but that's nothing to do with action genres vs romantic comedies... your lead character needs some kind of charisma regardless. ;)
and maybe re: Borey Boleman's comment about action stars vs good actors should be taken into account... I'd like to wait to see her in something else before declaring an opinion. I think she has potential, sure, so I don't want to pass judgment too soon; one movie shouldn't decide that. But I really didn't like Haywire and wasn't impressed by her in it. ^^;
Comment by Mouse on April 25, 2012 at 1:14am Could they just Cast her as Wonder Woman already?!!
