Chris Hemsworth On The Set Of Ron Howard's 'Rush'
While not based on the videogame series, Ron Howard's upcoming film 'Rush' is about the fast-paced world of Formula One racing. The film revolves around 70s era champion driver Niki Lauda and the accident that nearly cost him his life. 'The Avengers' Chris Hemsworth appears in the film as British racecar driver James Hunt. Recently, a flurry of set pics hit the web giving us a glimpse of Hemsworth in costume and the overall aesthetic of the film. I love that Ron Howard is doing a movie like this considering he got his start doing carsploitation movies for Roger Corman in the 1970s. Take a really close look at the image with the firemen. Is Hemsworth casually walking past a severed head lying on the ground?

Hemsworth has gotta be a member of the Scientology club, that's the only full-proof reason he's reigning tall over Hollywood lately.

James Hunt was the type of racer you wouldn't see these days. Most who frequent here from the other side of the pond probably pay little attention to F1 and may have checked out Senna due to the glowing review from the Spill crew (and rightly so).
He was a big party animal who drank, partied, womanised and still managed to be an awesome F1 driver.
I can only imagine that the image with Hunt (Hemsworth) looking at a decapitated head in a helmet is from the 1974 US GP held in New York state.
A young Austrian driver called Helmuth Koinigg. His car had a problem which caused him to come off the track and veer towards a barrier. Sadly the bottom part of the barrier gave way and his car carried on through meaning the top part of the barrier decapitated him. Very sad story.
Odd that a film about Lauda doesn't seem to show who is playing him as he too suffered an horrific accident which burnt most of his face.

I can't wait to see this movie! If you thought the 80's era of F1 in Senna was dangerous, the 70's were even more so, and the rivalries were even more heated. Chris definitely looks the part of James Hunt too, this should be great to see. :)
