They're not Swedes Leon, they're Norwegians : )

Thought it was a fun movie, I did look at it about half way as more along the lines of a monster movie like the original black and white The Thing movie was. Was lots of fun, and the creature reminded me alot of Dead Space creatures and I thought that was cool too.  One thing I didn't get was, creatures weren't as elaborate as the original. When they all morphed, they morphed relatively into the same type of creature where as the original there were many different variations. (few spoilers) And I was hoping Lars had more parts being the survivor that continues onto the beginning of the next movie.  All in all, creatures were very creative, trailers unfortunately ruined some of the scares because I recognize the environments of where and when they transform, and you automatically knew the guy in the helicopter was going to transform from the trailers, so trailers kind of screwed that up. Im happy there wasn't any love interests, and Im happy they found some other way to test everyone rather than rehashing something used from the previous film.

guys.... i thought this was ok, some inconsistencies to say the least. But the acting was good, dialogue was decent, and there were some generally creepy sequences.

the 82' Thing is one of my all time favorties. There was a fantastic team (crew, actors, Carpenter) and every frame of the movie is impressive. Lots of TLC went into the film, as much went into the best of Carpenter's work. I think that's what was lacking in the prequel... a real vision. But for what it was, it wasn't bad.

I just watched the 82 version again, this time with Kurt Russell & John Carpenter's commentary. Now if you want to have a good time, check that out. It was a riot, and full of great anecdotes and insights.

I really enjoyed this movie. I give it a Full Price! I was completely sucked into it. I agree that there wasn't much character development, but I didn't want that. I wanted to see the Thing and that's what I got. I love the visuals. I know a lot of people were complaining that it wasn't top noch special effects, but I hey, not every movie can have Avatar quality effects. I loved them for what they were. Great review guys as usual!

I saw this the day after it came out with a girl. it was alot better than I expected, and it was even more enjoyable b/c there's a scene in a helicopter where some shit goes down...and the girl i was with, FREAKS OUT! She jumps, spills the popcorn and screams, " WHAT THE FUCK!!" xD it was priceless

@PaleBlueDot okay it's not a direct remake lol but anyway you look at it, great film and it's prequel is pretty good and should be given a chance.

@Russell '82 not a remake of '51

also Carpenter's The Thing is much more of an adaptation of the George W.Campbell than The Thing From Another World. If you can find it, you should def. read it :)

@Malik Thomas and Metal Virgin http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084787/trivia?tr=tr0775836 I believe it's a remake, like many others, even John Carpenter (I could be wrong) said it was a remake, but I can respect your views that it's not.
