The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

I watched this right before I fell asleep last night and I was surprised i didn't stay awake too long after I finished watching it. Before watching or hearing about this film I had never heard of robert ford and i knew next to nothing about jesse james. (other then that he was a notorious outlaw).

Cinematography: The look and feel of this film was so intricate and beautiful that I felt like i was right there with the james gang and the ford boys.

Score: A little too… Continue

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I saw this movie on thursday night and I was pleasantly surprised.

I did have expectations for the film and they were met and then some.

Peter (Jason Segel) seemed like such a real person that I completely felt for him.

He was a bit too sensitive but he was a really good guy.

I loved Mila Kunis and Russell Brand. Mila blew me away because I was expecting another that 70s show character but it was nothing like that.

Russell Brand was… Continue

Blood Simple

This film reminded me a lot of both fargo and no country for old men.

Its no wonder because this film was made by the coens just like the aforementioned films.

This was the coens directorial debut and I checked it out because I both enjoy their films and because it had an incredible rating on rotten tomatoes.

I was blown away by the acting of m. emmett walsh in this film. He was sooo good at being a bad guy.

His betrayal in the film is the stuff of… Continue

Gone Baby Gone

I just finished watching a film on my ipod called gone baby gone. It was directed and written by Ben Affleck.

It stars Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, and Ed Harris.

Each and every actor put forth a great performance. Oh yeah, I dont think I've ever heard fuck used so many times within one film. It was hilarious.

The cinematographer captured the dirtiness and spunk of the environment very well. Just about every character within the film turned… Continue

Acting - A Work In Progress Vol. 4 (the conclusion of the breakfast club adapted for the stage)

I was very happy with my performance this past saturday night. Especially since I had about 6 people out in the audience watching me who I care about very much. After the conclusion of the show, I went into the crowd and talked to my friends and I got compliments from about 7 people who were saying I had a great performance. This one lady said to me that she and her friends were talking during the show about how well I did. That is so incredibly validating. I put it a lot of hard work on this… Continue

Before the Devil knows you're Dead

I bought this film at my local wal-mart cuz Leon put the film on his top 10 and I have seen it at the top or in the top 10 of lots of well respected critics. I loved the hell out of this movie. It was very dark, immoral, and full of men who are completely insane and insensitive. The story is full of betrayal, jealousy, envy, and even adultery.

I respect Sidney Lumet and I think he is one of the greatest living filmmakers.

Ethan Hawke was so believeable as a loser deadbeat… Continue

Magnolia

I saw the P.T. Anderson film Magnolia today and I was completely blown away. I still am in fact.

This dude is a seriously talented guy. He is one of the few master filmmakers making movies today.

This review is a little biased because I like his movies in general, but this is one seriously great piece of cinema. It put me on an emotional rollercoaster that I won't soon forget. For some reason, in the past I have been upset with Tom Cruise because of the whole scientology… Continue

Eastern Promises

Last week I saw a russian mob movie that I really enjoyed. The film was directed by David Cronenberg (A History of Violence) and it is probably one of the best films to come out in 2007.

Naomi Watts, Vincent Cassel, and the dude who played the boss were freakin great in this movie. Personally, Vincent Cassel will always be the bad dude in the film derailed. He was such an evil canniving bastard. In this film, he seriously kicksass and is very believable in his… Continue

Acting - A Work In Progress Vol. 3 (The Breakfast Club adapted for the stage)

Over this past weekend I was in my schools Theatre production of The Breakfast Club. Opening night was Friday night and I had the jitters unlike anything I have experienced in the past. The jitters must've helped though because we got an enthusiastic response from the audience and I did a commendable job as the nerd (Brian).

Saturday nights show was great. It was a little weird though because while I was on stage I could feel the other cast members energy and they had none… Continue

Acting - A Work In Progress Vol. 2

In a few days I will be making my debut as Brian Ralph Johnson in my schools theatre production of The Breakfast Club. I can't wait. Everyone will be watching and I will show people what I can do.

The people I am working with are getting very stressed which is pretty normal but frustrating to me. I am surprisingly not all that nervous. I am sure that will change opening day but still that is normal.

I recently got my headshot proofs and I am really happy with how it turned… Continue

The Usual Suspects - Review

Yes Yes. I checked this one out because it was ranked number 20 on Imdb's top 250 and because it is considered a classic "who-dun-it" crime film.

I did have expectation for greatness and my expectations were met and actually exceeded.

The twist was freakin awesome. Kinda like the twist in the sixth sense in a way but cooler, much much cooler.

I knew Kevin Spacey was a great actor after seeing him in Se7en, American Beauty, and The Negotiator. By crackey, he blew… Continue
