Reviewing Movies While Watching Movies - The Expendables

Note: This is not to be taken too seriously. There are also major spoilers.

You know how critics take down notes while watching a movie so that they won't forget what they just saw. They use these notes to remember what

to criticize when writing or speaking out their review for that movie.

Well I took that approach by using the notes I took down as my review.

Some of the notes I written down are out of order (but not much)…

Charlton's Top 13 Favorite Films of 2009 - Cool! :D

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! Two strange things for me as of now is writing "1/9/10" instead of "1/9/09" and being committed to a new years resolution for once [now I'm not telling you that]. What I am telling all of you is the thirteen films that I considered the top of 2009, in terms of them being my personal fave. And no, these thirteen films are not the only films I saw that year. Here's the 46 films I saw:

Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Taken, The International, Watchmen, I… Continue

Despite my Gripes - Avatar (SPOILER ALERT)

EDIT: The following gripes I have with this film is not to be taken too seriously, and mainly just nitpicking. More of this will be explained in my review. Enjoy?

I LOVE the action scenes, how the 3D was well-implemented to see more of the universe, and the environment of Pandora. The visuals are PERFECT, enough said. However, some of the dialogue was bad- I mean come on, "I see you"? And there were moments that, to me, was… Continue

My Top Ten Favorite Movies of Summer 2009 - Awesome! :P

Initially I thought I wouldn't watch that many films for this year's Summer Movie Line-Up but obviously I broke that stance. I think I watched more than the ten movies listed here but one I definitely know isn't going to show up on this list is Terminator Salvation (which disappointed me a lot). This list is just my opinion so ye... Let's Do This!

10. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

First time I saw it I… Continue

Despite My Gripes - District 9 (SPOILERS ALERT)

The premise sounds like any other sci-fi movie, but District 9 puts a twist on its story and makes it unpredictable. I was so enthralled by the documentary style, the violence, the characters (emotionally invested to as well), and the best special effects I've seen in a long time that even these plot holes didn't matter since the movie moves at a great pace.

Several hours after I watched the film, I kept contemplating on the things… Continue

Quick Review of BRÜNO

This movie is very funny- there was never a minute when I didn't laugh. Although Borat is better than Bruno, I think Bruno comes close to it. The first 10 minutes set you up on whether or not you should watch the film or walk out of the theater.

Bruno was 10 times more offensive, gross, and uncomfortable than Borat which made the film, to me, more AND less entertaining. Some scenes I felt were… Continue

Eastbound and Down: The First Season - Review

Not a day goes by when a comedy show we're watching is most likely going to offend someone. Shows such as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, South Park, Family Guy (for all the wrong reasons), and etc. are examples- but none of these shows have the courage to do what Eastbound & Down does in its only six episodes.

Starring Danny McBride, mostly known from Tropic Thunder and… Continue

Ghostbusters: The Video Game - Review

I have to admit that I was VERY late to the Ghostbusters party. I knew that it existed, and the special effects at that time were spectacular, and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was the chosen Destructor- but I never saw the full film. A week before I knew the game came out already- I rented Ghostbusters and I was laughing hard at all these lines (partically Bill Murray's of course). Skipping to the end, I bought the Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Set and The Video Game.…

Reviewing Movies While Watching Movies - WATCHMEN

You know how critics take down notes while watching a movie so that they won't forget what they just saw. They use these notes to remember what to critize when writing or speaking out their review for that movie. Well I took that approach by using the notes I took down as my review.

Quantum of Solace: The Video Game review

There are a lot things of Quantum of Solace: The Video Game that make you think the opposite of what the game is overall. It looks like a first-person shooter, but 8/10 of the time you're behind cover in third-person view. Another thing that gets you fooled is the title. I thought, for a sequel that had WAY more action scenes than Casino Royale ended up having less chapters to play. Apparently, Activision decided to have Casino Royale's sequences to be the most of the chapters. One last… Continue

"Step Brothers" - A Different Opinion

Note: Some spoilers will occur!

When I saw The Spill Crew's review on Step Brothers- I immediately became skeptical on how bad this movie can be. But I got curious sooner or later and watched the film. I actually have to go between Rental and Full Price.

The plot is Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly) become step-brothers and immediately hate each other. Later on, they have a common enemy who is the other… Continue

Would You Believe I Loved GET SMART?

This movie's awesome!

That was the short version. Here's the long version of my review. Steve Carell is my #1 favorite actor of all time and sure he's made some failures (Sleepover and Evan Almighty) but he's sure made a lot of success (Daily Show, Anchorman, 40-Year-Old Virgin, Little Miss Sunshine). He's one of those actors whose prescene doesn't wear out, like Simon Pegg. Steve Carell in this movie does a great… Continue

May The Force Be With Ya (FANBOYS Screenplay Review)

Before you read on, please note I might give minor spoilers. No ending or what happens to any of the characters.

So I got to read the July 10, 2005 draft of the long-delayed comedy, FANBOYS. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one but okay. I'm going to flat out say that I never saw the original trilogy fully nor did I see episodes 2 and 3. Though I did happen to catch some of Return of The Jedi, and to… Continue

One of Those Funny Heartaching Stories

I 've been cleaning room lately since I haven't for a month and a half. I found something that caught my eye- a ripped, dirty Valentine's Day card with my sloppy handwriting enscribed on it. It took me a long time to remember where this came from and then- I made a flashback in my head when I was in Fifth Grade.

In Fifth Grade, I remember my teacher wanted her students and I to make Valentine's Day cards for each and every one of us. Now of course, the students weren't happy… Continue

Monty Python Made Me Pass a Test!

Monty Python and The Holy Grail is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time and I'm surprised there aren't a lot of films being made like it.

I took a Social Studies test a few days ago and yesterday my teacher gave me the grade I got. I originally had a 63% which isn't passing but not horribly. HOWEVER, one of the bonus questions that took me by surprise and made me so delighted was...

In Monty Python & The Holy Grail, what did the French… Continue

The 40-Year-Old Juno

Note: These are my thoughts on movies, 40-Year-Old Virgin and Juno. Blog posted in the past: 2/24/08

So far I've been writing 3 screenplays (one of 'em I'm close to 100 pages!) and its a great hobby.

I got writer's block all day and just wanted something to watch. I already watched Thank You For Smoking and Take The Money and Run the other… Continue

Seth Rogen & James Franco Do An Apatow Joint (Pineapple Express Screenplay Review)

Before you read on, please note I might give minor spoilers. No ending or what happens to any of the characters.

So I got to read the The Pineapple Express, which is a script conceived by Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg (Seth and Evan wrote Superbad as well, which every teenager by now knows who McLovin is). After reading "A Judd Apatow Joint" that was on the cover page of the script, I didn't know what to expect.

The script starts off with… Continue
