Zero Dark Thirty Review

Rating-Full Price!!   Zero Dark Thirty stars Jessica Chastain as a CIA operative who is on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden and follows her efforts from 2001 till that day when the navy SEALs killed his ass. It is a tale that is well told and told with respect. It contains twist and turns that, despite knowing how this was going to end, kept me on the edge of my seat. Along with a great script, terrific characters, a standout performance from Jessica Chastain, and the…

Zero Dark Thirty Review

It took ten years and two wars to find the most wanted man in contemporary American history: Osama bin Laden, the fanatical man who was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians around the world. Whether the events in this film portray the facts or are merely a variation of what really…

THE BIGGEST STAR OF 2012

By now every Film Critics Association in the country has printed their list and the Golden Globes and Oscars are poised to tell us what were the best movies, actors, etc. 2012. Yet none of these filings breaks down who was the Biggest Star of the year.  Who was Hollywood’s ‘It Girl’ of 2012?

Remember back when you’d never heard of Jessica Chastain, then suddenly last…

Tree of Life Movie Review

Life. What is it? Why are we here? Was there life, before "life" life? What started it all? Is there meaning behind any of this? All of these questions will not be answered in Terrance Mallick's Tree of Life. In fact, Mallick's recent drama starring Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain, actually…

Sex And The City Sequel Suggestions: A Twitter List

So, it's Wednesday and, if you're a regular reader of The Story Masonry blog, you're wondering where the hell "People @ the Top of Their Game (4/02/11) Part 2" is? The answer is simple: I'm working on writing my script and I don't have the time I thought I did to write essay length posts. I do say at the top of every entry that P@TTG they probably won' be weekly and I guess this is you first taste of that and I apologize.…

The A-Team: A very enjoyable adaptation

The A-Team maybe isn't the best movie adapted from a tv series, but I'm sure that is is one of the most if not the most entertaining and full of action. The movie follows the story of a group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were… Continue

Valentine's Day: Just another forgivable movie

Valentine's Day tells the story of 10 people in Los Angeles whose

lives intersect on the romantic holiday. Valentine's Day is another romantic comedy chick flick with a huge cast full of stars but

with a very poor story or stories in this case an a plot that lacks of

development. It follows the same formula of New York I love you and

Paris Je T'aime but without the same impact. It seems that this movie

has no life, no heart. The cast is wonderful, I can't think of a… Continue

Did You Hear About the Morgans: nothing special about it

Did you hear about the Morgans? a movie that tells the story of a highly

succesful couple Meryl (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Paul Morgan (Hugh

Grant) have almost-perfect lives-except for one notable failure - their

dissolving marriage but their lives are about to change when they

witness a murder that makes them enter into the witness protection

program moving them from NY to a tiny town in Wyoming. It is a romantic

comedy with some good jokes, specially from Hugh… Continue

Planet 51: Didn't convince me at all

Planet 51 is a galactic-sized animated alien adventure comedy revolving around American astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker, who lands on Planet 51 thinking he's the first person to step foot on it. To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950s America. The movie have some funny moments, not for little kids maybe, and they also make some reference to other sci-fi… Continue

Mars Attacks! (1996) - Review

Mars Attacks! Review

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 46%

My rating: Rental

Whenever I am asked what my guilty pleasure is, apart from a strange liking of folk guitar, this film always pops up. It is terrible. It took 100 million to put it out there and it made 101 million. It’s jaw droppingly bad. Yet for some reason this movie is something you can lie back, disconnect your jaw, and dribble along to. It’s so bad it’s… Continue

Freeform Anger: Employee of the Month

Welcome back, Spillensteins, to another unfortunate yet necessary episode of Freeform Anger. Tonight’s feature, direct from the Home Office in the 10th level of Hades is 2006’s “Employee of the Month,” starring Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson. Mensa was sad to lose these two for a couple months while this flick was put together.

Mephisto sent me this movie because of my last FFA “Still Waiting….” He decided I had missed the joy of Dane Cooking. Now I used to like Dane… Continue

Planet 51

I came across the trailer for this film whilst browsing around one of my favourite sites, Cartoon Brew.

I can't say I've heard anything about this before. I'm not quite sure what to think about the character designs, as they all do look like a more appealing version of Shrek. However, I am pretty intrigued by this film and managed to get a couple laughs out of the trailer!

So far voice talents include, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock),… Continue

Sex and they city review - Et Tu, Carrie?

Yeah I watched all the seasons and yes I often compared myself to Charlotte, or Miranda but I never thought that show was the Second Coming or anything. I did like however it's ending. For a show that was supposedly all about sex... it ended with love. It ended with a positive, heartwarming message... that if you learn, and grow and invest yourself fully emotionally and spiritually into a relationship, all that love and energy you will get back. If you're honest with yourself and the one you… Continue

And the 'World's Unsexiest Woman' is...

Sarah Jessica Parker was devastated when she was voted the World's Unsexiest Woman by a Maxim Magazine readers poll.

She said: "Do I have big boobs, Botox and big lips? No. Do I fit some ideals and standards of some men writing in a men's magazine? Maybe not. Am I really the unsexiest woman in the world? Wow! It's kind of shocking.

"It's so brutal in a way, so filled with rage and anger. But, on the other hand, I… Continue
