First Trailer For Danny Boyle's 'Trance'

I love Danny Boyle as a filmmaker. There is no genre in which he can't operate. For his latest film 'Trance,' he is crafting a psychological crime thriller involving art thieves and hypnotism. If that description sounds weird, just wait until you see this first trailer. I'm interested to see how the dream-logic cat-and-mouse…

Emma Roberts Joins Heist Film 'Empire State'

Emma Roberts ('The Art of Getting By', 'Scream 4') is the latest addition to 'Empire State', a heist film based on "true events" (note the heavy quotation marks there) that happened in 1982 when two childhood friends from Astoria, N.Y. planned to rob an armored car depository. The 21-year old actress joins the cast alongside …

Nicolas Cage's Stolen Comic Book Gets Its Own Movie?

Film, like all art, often imitates life. And when the life the art is imitating is that of a giant, wild personality like actor Nicolas Cage, I am instantly intrigued. Such is the case with 'Action No. 1,' which centers on the real-life theft of Cage's prized, and exceedingly valuable, Superman comic back in 2000. The project, penned by…

Michael Mann's 'Public Enemies' Review

He robbed banks, he walked into police stations just for the hell of it, and he escaped prison like it was an everyday thing. John Dillinger was one of those guys. In an era where criminality was at an all time high, a man like Dillinger robbed banks with ease. But it wasn't just for the money. Dillinger loved planning the job and feeling the thrill of the heist more than the money itself. Today, when we see criminals rob banks we view them as… Continue

Jules Dassin Dies Aged 96

Oh man. So many cool movie people died these past few months and now this.

"Jules Dassin, the director of some of the finest heist movies and films noir of all time, has died. He was 96.

The American-born director, who had virtually lived and worked outside his home country full-time since the 1950s, died following a short illness on Monday in Athens, Greece, the place that he had made his home.

Dassin…

Double the Reviews and Double the Fun

Semi-Pro

Before reading this movie review bear in mind that I am a huge fan of Will Ferrel movies. I loved Blades of Glory, Anchorman and Talladehga Nights. So I expected Semi Pro to be just as good as these movies if not better.

God I hate being wrong.

Look, I'm a simple man of simple pleasures. If Will Ferrel wants to keep on playing the same character over and over again, more power to him as long as he's still funny. The problem with Semi Pro is that he… Continue
