First Image From Universal's '2 Guns'

I'm not sure how I missed that Universal was adapting Steven Grant's pulp comic '2 Guns' into a film, but I am excited. The film will be directed by Baltasar Kormakur ('Contraband') and stars…

'Y: The Last Man' Lands Its Director

Last fall, we learned that the long-gestating 'Y: The Last Man' movie was bumped up to a priority over at New Line. The latest draft of the script, which the studio was totally jazzed about, was penned by …

New Line Makes 'Y: The Last Man' Movie A Priority

For many years, over a decade in fact, there have been rumblings that the graphic novel 'Y: The Last Man' would be getting the big screen treatment. Yet somehow, nothing ever surfaced. Now it appears New Line, riding an enthusiastic…

Marvel Season one

So I've finally gotten around to reading some of Marvel Season one and I got to say, it's an interesting update of the origins. I was privileged enough to read both of the Team books: FF and X-men. I'm also now reading the first of the second wave Ant-man. The art in both the team books is very well done for a graphic novel, nothing mind blowing alex ross level but nothing horrid Rob Liefeld level(though from the first few pages of Ant-man, I'm cautious as it appears to look very cartoon…

First Image Of Aaron Eckhart In 'I, Frankenstein'

I love the core Universal monsters so much that I will enthusiastically watch any film that utilizes them. Sure, I got burned by 'The Wolfman,' but that doesn't mean I don't hold out hope for Stuart Beattie's 'I,…

Drive Review

In today's world, it is so hard to distinguish oneself as a filmmaker with a unique story to tell that reinvents the wheel in a way that suits both the casual viewer and the film buff who is constantly looking to be surprised by what cinema can provide for them. That is one of the brilliant things about Nicolas Winding Refn's mind that makes him such a promising filmmaker who has an incredible vision about what movies are capable of. He's been compared to some of the greats including Stanley…

Marvel’s Pricing Problems (Update)

One of my previous articles talked about how Marvel was putting out smaller and smaller Omnibus’ while slowly increasing the cost. Well, yesterday, word has spread around comic book forums that Marvel is going to release their biggest Omnibus yet. The complete run of Walt…

Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Movie Review

I finally got around to seeing one of the best films of the year, and almost no one is seeing it.

Scott Pilgrim

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
is a film based off of a series of independent comic books that follow a loser in Toronto. Although I had read the first five volumes of the series, I never thought it…

Batman #66: A Comedy Of Boners...Er...Errors

Early in the silver age, DC wasn't doing so well,

with World War Two over and the demand for heroes fading, DC's titles

started to devolve into a printed sitcom. Complete with bad jokes,

stereotypical role models, and the inevitable return to status quo at

the end of the issue. DC was playing it so safe that many of the comics

went out of their way not to offend the Comics Code Authority.

Instead of fighting crime, their heroes fought…

Marvel's Omnibus Problems

About a week ago, Marvel Omnibus' were flying off of warehouse shelves thanks to a tiny glitch from Amazon, which made the $75-$100 books (up to $160 Canadian,) go for the small price of $15 and eventually $8. This was a deal that seemed too good to be true. So I bought up 10 copies, not for the purpose of reselling, (to make an EASY profit,) but to study, because having an oversized book that is re-coloured is… Continue

Ozma of Oz

1. Who are you?

My name is Ozma of Oz! I am a lover of weird movies, Jim Henson Muppets, Swedish Fish, cream soda and of course, comic books. When I am not drooling over Batman, Superman or the Martian Man Hunter, I'm attending college trying to get through and hopefully, waiting for the day I am able to move out of the house. My name comes from the young Princess Ruler of Oz named Ozma and yes, there is a princess of Oz. Read the books and you'll find out about… Continue

Graphic novels, the bullshit synonym for Comic Books...

My fellow nerds and Spillions who give a crap, lend me your ears; it's time to realize the truth of this pitiful situation. As you may or may not be aware, graphic novels have become the popular alternative name for a comic book, and honestly I couldn't be more unimpressed at this shift. Do you really think that renaming a medium will make it any more appealing? I don't call video games synergistic novels, except for jesting, because you know what, they aren't!…

Overrated Movie Theater: The Dark Knight...

*Remember, these are my opinions on the movie, not reality changing facts. Although these movies probably do have positives about them, I will not be addressing them, this is about there overlooked flaws. SPOILERS!!!*

On this edition of Overrated Movie Theater, I am taking a look at a film the has been called the masterpiece of comic book movies. Gaining prestige critically and financially, The Dark Knight has been called a dark analysis of disorder and chaos as well as… Continue
