Abigail Breslin Is 'The Final Girl'

Horror fans will be quite familiar with the term "the final girl." It speaks to a grand tradition in our beloved genre of the strongest, or sometimes just luckiest, female character who makes it all the way to the end credits of a slasher film; women tending to survive horror films more often than men. Well it…

A lot of movie watching today on a rainy Saturday in Birmingham. Finally, I have a chance to write some extensive movie reviews until I go see Inception next week; I've been MIA due to heavily marketing my new online novel/webfiction/webserial Polite Society (if you like the 1700s and the movie Marie Antoinette, click the link… Continue

H2 review (A brief look back at the franchise itself)

(Warning: Spoilers Throughout. Also pretty long sorry about that, if you don't want my opinion on the franchise I marked the official review itself enough you can just jump down to it)

I love the Halloween franchise, I have to say that quite a bit of it is a guilty pleasure of mine, though the original will always be the best in my heart. While others loved the brutal kills and the raunchy sex scenes of Friday the 13th, I was being scared to death by the silent, emotionless holiday… Continue

Kirk, Spock & Medea take on Wolverine, SkyNet, Pixar and Tom Hanks... Can Trek Boldly Go?

So, I have been asking around...

As much as I am hoping for Star Trek XI to be good, I'm worried that despite its best efforts, it's going to get buried. I think it may have a good opening weekend, but here's what it has to compete with:

X-men Origins: Wolverine - May 1st

Star Trek - May 8th

Next Day Air - May 8th…

Free Medea??? Ummm....how about showing us the movie instead.

How do you promote a film that, while nearly critic proof, won't be shown to critics anyway? Hold a mock protest instead...

FREE MADEA!

MADEA, America's favorite irreverent, pistol-packin' grandmomma, is raising hell

behind bars and bringing together a community of fans to lobby for her freedom!

Who: LIONSGATE, Soulciti.com, Collegemoviereview.com and Archive Lounge

and local Austin City residents join in solidarity to peacefully protest…

Tyler Perry: The Family That Preys

So Tyler Perry has a new movie coming out. I swear dude is like the Lil' Wayne of the film industry. He keeps the movies coming. Since he hit the scene with "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" he hasn't let up.

Now I'll be the first to admit--I'm not a Tyler Perry fan. Not.At. All. I don't think he can write. I don't think he can direct. And I think he has been absolutely horrible for Black theatre and film. I respect his… Continue

The incredible Hulk: incredible movie

The incredible Hulk opens its way as one of the best action movies of the season. With a completely new adaptation of the movie combining parts from the comic and parts from the 70's T.V. series, the film comes full of action and adventure, a good story of love and even some humor moments. It was like an adrenaline shot right to the heart. The CGI and special effects are really great. We can see a more realistic, more human Hulk, of course that they still can make it better. The movie is full… Continue
