127 Hours (2010)

Well, now I’m never going rock-climbing.

From director Danny Boyle comes this harrowing tale of real-life mountain climber Aron Ralston (James Franco), who literally cuts himself loose from danger — and lives to tell about it when sliding rock pins his forearm under a boulder during a climb in Utah. To stay alive, Ralston resorts to his basest survival instincts.

The Internet Fucked Up My Slumdog Millionaire DVD Fuck-Up Fix-Up

As you probably know by now, the rental copy of Slumdog Millionaire was released as the retail copy to a lot of unsuspecting consumers. Their only option was to call the Fox Customer Service line and get a replacement.

Well, word got out pretty fast that Fox was shipping out the replacement DVDs no questions asked, and as a result, the corporate big wigs placed a new rule. Those asking for replacements… Continue

Slumdog Director to Helm James Bond?

According to the ever-so reliable British tabloid, The Sun, Danny Boyle is being approached by a unnamed source in EON Films to direct the next Bond movie.

Now while I take this tabloid news with a massive handful of salt, hearing the director of Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, and of course, Slumdog Millionaire take the reins… Continue

The Biggest Movie Event of the Year! The Dark Knight, not the Oscars!

Two big things happened today. The first one is that the Dark Knight made over 1 billion dollars. Yes, that's right. It finally managed to do it! We all know bats are blind. The question is do they know the smell of cash? The Dark Knight does. Today, The Dark Knight went over the billion dollar mark worldwide, having officially clawed in $1,001,082,160 to date. Do you think our friends at Warner Bros. are doing happy dances and smoking cigars made of thousand-dollar bills? Think that they are… Continue

Santos Reviews 3 Theatrical Films

Within the past few weeks, I have seen a total of 3 movies at the theaters. I had considered reviewing each one separately, but, given that two are films that I caught late, have instead decided to quickly review them all in one blog post. Here they are in the order that I watched them....

1.

Believe it or not, I actually liked this one. Yes, it's cheesy and has it's fair share of problems, but overall I had a good time watching it. It's… Continue

Last Minute Oscar Nomination Predictions: How did they hold up?

Well, this morning The Academy of Culturally Out-of-Touch Republican Dumbasses (I'm sorry, Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) announced their nominations. While some were expected, there were also pleasant surprises, WTFs, and OhMyGodDoTheyEvenCareAboutRatingsAnymores. Let's see how my predictions held up:

Best Picture

Slumdof Millionaire

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Frost/Nixon

The Dark Knight Milk

Wall-E The…

Last Minute Oscar Nomination Predictions!

Well, in 2 days the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce the nominees for The 80th Annual Academy Awards. And who better to predict the major nominee lists than me, a guy who's profile is inspired by the epitome of artistically-challenged craptaculars? With the way the race is looking in its last preliminary stretch, even someone like me could guess the nominees! Let's get started:

Best Picture

Slumdog Millionaire

The Curious Case of…

My major problem with Slumdog Millionaire

Was the sole intention of this film to try and make India look as terrible as possible? In about every other scene you show India's kids pickpocketing, taking apart cars or even in one scene killing someone.

My least favorite part was when the kids took apart the car and one of them was beaten to inch of his life, the America tourists stepped in to save his life, because it was the American way.

I hope India goes into a riot… Continue

Slumdog Millionaire Review

Photobucket

This morning a new ACOCO was posted. As i listened intently i heard Carlyle say that Slumdog Millionaire was in his top 3 movies of the year. So i thought, "fine i will go see a movie about 'who wants to be a millionaire". After driving through the worst weather ever and walking a mile to the theater, i purchase me ticket and find my favorite seat. (the one in front with the railing to put my feet on, and the chair exactly in the… Continue

Sound of Doom's Top 5: Top 5 Films To See This Holiday Season

The christmas season is coming, and with it you can expect lavish fake christmas trees, eggnog overdoses, egregious dvd double dips (triple, even!), screaming, overcrowded toy stores, heavy-handed christmas specials, mall Santas taking kicks to the crotch, and above all new movies! Now, I'm not going into a long profiling of each new release coming this season (look up someone else's article here if you want that-but keep reading this one, please), for three reasons:

A. I have no… Continue
