Spill’s review on Monte Carlo, with its five-minute rant on the current crop of Disney Starlets heading towards controversy, got me thinking about Disney’s quest for the next Annette Funicello. It’s been a quest that I’ve been aware of since the 90’s Mickey Mouse Club and have causally followed over the course of my life. It’s something of a futile quest on Disney’s part, and I personally think Disney just needs to give up and stop.
You know, a couple years ago I did this little video "show" on Youtube called "A Moment With The Mikeness" where I talked about the controversy surrounding a photo of Miley Cyrus that was taken for an issue of Vanity Fair:
I normally don't complain much about movies, but this time I just can't help but rant. I went to see The Last song with my sister today, and although we did not expect much, we hoped that at least it would have an interesting story, or at the very least, some good music. Boy were we wrong. It has been a long time since I have emerged from a movie theater completely hating a movie, but with this one, hate does not even begin to cover it. Miley gets into a minor altercation (with Tyra Banks of all people), so as punishment, her father takes her back to Tennessee to see what life was like for him. Hilarity and hijinks ensue while she tries to adjust, she meets a boy and in the end, falls in love with not only Tennessee, but the boy too.

The story is good but it leaves you the sense of already been watched previously and the plot is pretty convincing although a little predictable. It is pretty enjoyable for the little kids but the adults will spend a really… Continue

There have been a few comments about my lack of addressing this - as well as a few blog posts ruminating upon it - so I thought perhaps I'd throw a word or two into the argument. For those of you unfamilar, this is what CNN had to say about Miss Fox's upcoming interview of which they were offered snippets:
Fox also defended Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens regarding their racy photo scandals…Continue
Well since I'm pretty sure that not a lot of people are going to be reading this, especially no one that I know, I feel it's the prefect place to vent about music whether it's crappy or amazing. I don't have to be afraid for my masculinity saying that See You Again by Miley Cyrus is an incredible feat of music. Or I don't have to fear for my life when I say that Ska is a ridiculous genre and there's a reason it didn't last very long in the mainstream.
