Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope Review

Unfortunately, I have never ventured to Comic-Con. I have always wanted to and will some day (according to my bucket list). Might I add, this documentary has whetted my appetite toward the experience in more ways than before. What brings geek culture together is conventions. It is place where fans of…

Watchmen Preacher On The "Star Wars," Blu Rays

Despite what the man has said in the past about Spill.com and the some members in the Spill community, you cant argue with the guy when it comes to his opinions on movies, especially when it comes down to hollywood fucking everything good in cinema and raping its innocense.  That's why I felt that his newest video needed to be seen by the Spill Community and hopefully by the rest of the…

Random Review: My Top Ten of 2010

As seems to be the trend around this time of year, I've put together my Top Ten Films of 2010 list.  Now, I feel I should point out that I'll be taking a slightly different tack with this list compared to other lists.  Where the standard "top ten of 2010" list will focus on films that were released in 2010, this one will instead focus on films that I *saw* in 2010, regardless of when they were released.  You're also going to see a fair number of ties as you move up the list.  In some cases,…

Ezra's Huge Reviews Top 10 Favorite Films of 2010 So Far Part 1

10. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (***)

I think that although this is not a faithful adaptation, I think that it was a pretty good film

for sure. I think that it has some funny moments, but it does have that problem of not

being true to the source material.…

Reviews by Niall :Book Of Eli edition

Going into this movie i wasnt sure exavtly what to expect would it be a big pop corn movie blockbuster? or a more serious film about the nature of humanity in extreme situations? Well it was both a near perfect blendof the two with great fight scenes and superb action set peices. and great acting from all concerned Of course Denzel Washington is excellent as always and Gary Oldman on top form like he always is. truth be told some viewers may be put off by some of the themes and seemingly… Continue

The Book Of Eli

Wow what a film. First off this film never beat me over the head with religion it never did. i loved the film. I could see many things that reminded ov alot ov post apocalyptic movies. Road Warrior, Water world, and the scenes reminded me of Fallout 3 (Game). and the scenes were amazingly beautiful and i was pulling my hair out cause i was saying this is a great viewing ov things and i want people to see this film. I wont give away anything about it. but all who are in it are amazing. this film… Continue

The Book of Eli: Not What People Think

This post will have spoilers in it. It is also not a review, but a thesis on the meaning of the film.

Many people are saying that The Book of Eli is a pro-Christian film. Respectfully, I disagree. This is not the rantings of some extremist Christian, but thoughts from one who knows the subject matter. Let's start with this: Why did Carnegie want the Bible in the first place? Not for its message, but to control people. He knows that as long as people think what he says is coming from… Continue

Book Of Eli Review

From the Hughes brothers, who are best known for producing, directing, and writing Menace II Society and Dead Presidents, we have The Book of Eli, starring Denzel Washington as a man on a mission in a post-apocalyptic world.

I went into this film with very little knowledge of the storyline, and I will say I was caught off guard once it got into the meat of the plot. I will admit I did go into this movie with a…

Once Upon A Time In Nazi-Occupied France~ My Thoughts on Inglourious Basterds

I'm going to preface this by admitting that I was introduced to the Tarantino universe way later than everybody else. I know that's pretty pathetic, especially with me being a huge film nerd and all...but the point is that, in anticipation of 'Inglourious Basterds', I finally got around to watching some of Quentin's work. A while back I got ahold of Reservoir Dogs and was pretty impressed, and then moved on to the Kill Bill movies. I started to… Continue
