MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: XXII (DVD)

It's pretty much a done deal; each time Shout! Factory puts out one of their MST3K box sets, it's…

The Big Three...Best of New Releases for 11/22/11

Whereas there were a lot of releases this week, there weren't really a lot that qualified for the BIG THREE, but the three I did pick are pretty hard to contest...

THE DEVIL'S DOUBLE (Blu-Ray and DVD)

Okay, so SOME would…

The Big Three...Best of New Releases for 11/15/11

It's New Release day again, and my doorstep has been flooded with more home versions of movies and TV shows than I can reasonably keep up with (or even watch). And not just because of Skyrim either (but not entirely NOT because of it, to be fair). At the very least, I'm here to point out to you the best bets for each week. At least, from my (not so) humble point of view. I mean, sure, you can argue. But what's the point? I actually have ear pods I keep in now that just go…

It's finally Halloween....whatcha gonna watch? Part Four

Oh no....the smoke machine...it isn't working. DAMMIT WHY WON'T YOU WORK. Oh well, I got six more in the back. Just gonna haul one of these out. What? My graveyard has GOT to have fog! But until some unsuspecting tykes looking for treats show up, I'm gonna dole out some more of these Halloween new releases...

This Just In..."My Life as a Dog" and "Sanctuary - Season 3"

MY LIFE AS A DOG (Blu-Ray)

Swedish director Lasse Hallström has come a long way since directing, um, as near as I can tell, EVERY ABBA music video. Rather than jail him for this offense, Ol'…

You May Be Surprised By How Easily You Can Be Sold On "Divorce"

"Divorce - Italian Style," released as the 286th addition to the Criterion Collection, is a film that is heavy on theme but doesn't preach to you. It's a film that is stylized but never calls attention to itself. Most importantly, it's a film that screams "classic" without so much as a subliminal whisper.

Marcello Mastroianni's Baron Fernando Cefalu is a man known by all and watched by all, like any celebrity, with judgmental eyes. This is probably why he's stayed with his…

Professor Whiplash Presents: A Valentine's Day Review of Criterion DVD - Louis Malle's The Lovers

(I understand if a lot of you spillios out there have probably barely ever watched a Criterion DVD much less a Louis Malle film - or, for that matter, a movie with Jeanne Moreau. Maybe I'm just a little too geeky for French-New Wave classics of the late 50s and 60s to pay closer attention to the usual geeky tastes on the site. But if you haven't seen and are interested, I also reccomend for… Continue

Watch Criterion Films Free!

Yes its true! As i was surfing the inter webs of space i found out that you can watch Criterion Collection films for free. Criterion has started a web site called The Auteurs where you can view films. Each month (for the last three months) They have done somewhat of a film festival. Each month comes with a different theme and six films to accompany the theme. January's theme was "Killer Movies".
