Alright, kids- Happy New Year. I hope you had the best holiday seasons...whatever it is you all celebrate and I hope the upcoming year brings all the fun stuff you all care about.
Here are my opinions about the TV shows and Films I've given a crap about lately:
- I'm SO sad that this show is over. I'm a fan of quirky detective shows, and this one had it all.
Appealing characters- hilarious antics and clever mysteries- I don't remember an episode where I… Continue

The box, the latest movie from Richard Kelly ( Donnie Darko) is an unusual movie that tells the story of a small wooden box that arrives on the doorstep of a married couple, who know that opening it will grant them a million dollars and kill someone they don't know. It is a psychological thriller with lots of suspense, drama and a little bit of action and adventure. The story is very good, the plot is very well developed and convincing although it may be a little hard to follow. It has a fast… Continue

EDIT: The following gripes I have with this film is not to be taken too seriously, and mainly just nitpicking. More of this will be explained in my review. Enjoy?
I LOVE the action scenes, how the 3D was well-implemented to see more of the universe, and the environment of Pandora. The visuals are PERFECT, enough said. However, some of the dialogue was bad- I mean come on, "I see you"? And there were moments that, to me, was… Continue

(ran on my facebook page... not entirely sure how well it'll go up on Spill, but we'll see)
It's that time of year again. Citizens of earth are ready to bid the auld lang syne adieu and greet the new year. 2009 has been a fantastic year for cinephiles of all kinds, and I have had a particularly difficult time narrowing the list of films seen this year down to my absolute favorites. The ones chosen are those that to me were the most intuitive, outstanding,… Continue

So are we the critics who play it safe and pick the films we're 'supposed' to pick? Or are we the type of critcss who try to go against the grain so much that we're annoying? Perhaps we're simply a group of guys who say "Hey, I just thought this movie was really cool."

In a recent Let's Do This someone asked the question why the third movie in so many movie series suck and if they can think of any good ones. And the guys gave a good answer as to why these 3rd films suck; its because there is no story. The original inspiration for the movie tends to only be found in the first and sometimes second movie. The third one is usually forced and the soul of the movie is usually dead by that time. Then the guys themselves could not think of any movies third in a… Continue

Without a doubt, the first ten years of the second millennium have held a plethora of both good and bad films; my purpose now is to reflect on what I think are a few of the best. Now mind you, if you don’t see some movies you thought were some of the best, the reasons why are: I haven’t seen them, or I forgot. Now, on with the list.
. Director Stephen Soderberg crafts a fantastic tale of how drugs affect all types of people from all offshoots of life. The film is both… Continue

I realized what tonight is. It's New Years Eve. And not just any New Years Eve, the last night of the decade, preparing to enter into 2010, the year we make contact. Or was that in 2063 when Zefram Cochrane
flies the first warp drive ship? Either way, it's going to be a night of startling inebriation with friends and the fallout could last for days afterward. Which is precisely why I better get out this "Best… Continue

Here is my rankings of the movies I saw this year and the reason why. Note that these are just the movies I saw this year, and that I did not see all the movies that were released this year.
-one of the funniest movies this decade.
2) Star Trek
-I have not seen the series, but this was still amazing.
3) District 9
-A new perspective and a small budget, but still awesome.
-A amazing movie, but not Pixar's best.

I can't believe you guys all dogpiled on the Podcast Awards
the way you did and got us the award for Best Movie Podcast
. I didn't even consider us winning as a possibility. The way the host of the awards show, who appeared to be entirely unfamiliar with us, said we had extremely rabid fans, says to me that it came out as a landslide victory. Wow. I think I can speak for the entire Spill
team when I… Continue

Planet 51 is a galactic-sized animated alien adventure comedy revolving around American astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker, who lands on Planet 51 thinking he's the first person to step foot on it. To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950s America. The movie have some funny moments, not for little kids maybe, and they also make some reference to other sci-fi… Continue

Christmas is over, and I am in my normal routine once again.
No more airports or airplanes.
No more shopping in a sea of angry, desperate people.
No more crying baby and constantly bitching sister.
No more uncomfortably friendly in laws that have no concept of physical personal space.
No more feeling disgusting as I eat chocolate mousse cake for breakfast.
To be fair, the baby had a cold and is too young to be able to blow his nose, so of course he is… Continue

I enjoy modern films as much as the next guy, but I love the classics more. Back before the MTV filmmaking and the endless product placements. I have decided to write reviews on classic movies to try and inspire people to check them out - to see what real filmmaking truly is.
Now on to the inaugural review...
Sergio Leone's "Once Upon a Time in the West"
"Instead of talking, he plays. And when he better play, he talks."…

I really wanted to see this movie. I went to see it today and boy did it blow my mind. Everything about this movie makes it perfect. From the blue skinned tribal Na'vi,to the army commandos operating giant mechs,to the interesting creatures in Pandora's forest,to the tests that Jake Sulley in his Avatar's body had to face.
I thought it was also cool how they made the Avatar versions of the humans look so familiar to their normal selves. I also… Continue

Well, we're here, at the end of a year (and a decade, no less). And when a year reaches its end, we traditionally look back upon it. For what would we be as human beings without looking behind on our triumphs, our mistakes, our opportunities, both taken and missed?
*cough* Sorry, better cut to the chase now before I waste anyone's time with incoherent rambling. Anyway, this year was a great one for movies, both critically and financially (Hollywood's biggest ever, in fact). And like… Continue

This is a review of the single-disk DVD edition of the 1987 movie staring Arnold Schwazenegger.
This is a great story. Why? It is simple as it is effective. We have a team of elite badass soldiers led by MAJ Alan "Dutch" Schaeffer (Arnold) that is called in by Dutch’s old friend, George Dillon (Carl Weathers) who now works for CIA, to the middle of nowhere jungle in order to save a minister that was kidnapped by rebel… Continue
