It was a long time after I got into rock music that I started getting into the avant-garde -- a lot of the rock music I listened to sounded the same and I just got bored with it. I was looking for something a lot wilder and more...spontaneous. So, I surfed the internet, looking up different avant-garde artists and I ran across a "noise artist" named Merzbow. It has been said that he was a highly influential figure in the Japanese noise scene, so I… Continue

The Simpsons: When are they going to learn that they are OUT OF IDEAS??? I have yet to see anything remotely similar to a good episode last season, and by the looks of tonight’s premier, I don’t hold any hope for this season. Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg (who wrote “Superbad”) wrote the first episode. I had already read a brief synopsis of the episode beforehand, and looked forward in anticipation. I was let down. I’m sorry, but this really was not funny. And Seth’s character was equally as… Continue

FBI agents (Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell) investigate the mysterious murder of a college student linked to the man who helped create a high-tech surrogate phenomenon that allows people to purchase unflawed robotic versions of themselves—fit, good looking remotely controlled machines that ultimately assume their life roles—enabling people to experience life vicariously from the comfort and safety of their own homes. The murder… Continue
Today, I bring you my reviews of both 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' and '9':
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS:
The studio behind Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, Sony Pictures Animation were also behind Open Season, an enjoyable animated comedy and Surf's Up which is probably my favorite non-Pixar film of the last ten years. Now, they've made one of my favorite movies of this year.
In the film, based on a book that I had never heard… Continue

Polanski was flying to Switzerland to receive an honorary award at the Zurich Film Festival when he was detained late Saturday at the airport, festival… Continue
Since it’s almost Halloween already, at least as far as the way retailers think, (and I once again haven’t even STARTED trying to figure out what my costume is, despite promises to myself from last year to be completely settled by August) I figure it’s not too soon to start getting into some of the horror releases coming out and apparently the Blu-Ray people must have the same idea. Let’s get a close look at the new “Feed Your Fear” collection from 20th Century Fox.…

Say what you want about Burton, but I will never ever get sick of watching Beetlejuice. I didn't even think about halloween programing when I got cable. Now I gots it. BIZZOW! Gena Davis leaves her home and is transported to an alternate Dune where the Worms are stocking puppets!
So, I bought the Millennim Falcon in Puzz-3D form at a thrift store. It was 75 cents. That should have been my first clue tat it was not space worthy. I've been working on it in my spare time for the past… Continue
You would think that being an art school kid I would be able to relate to this film more, but I just couldn’t. I mean, why not? It’s about a performing arts school that features four concentrations I’m familiar with in one sense or another. Acting, singing, dancing, film making and producing. It’s set in modern times to give this new generation something to relate to that fans of the original 80’s version (like my mom) can understand and welcome. It has a driving soundtrack that takes… Continue
I thought this was going to suck. Why is it always that movies that I think will suck turn out to be good, and the movies I think will be awesome turn out to suck?
Pandorum is about a space crew that wakes up from hyperbolic sleep to a seemingly abandoned spaceship, all of which have severe memory loss. Throughout the movie, the crew discover more and more about what happened to the ship and the rest of the crew, as well… Continue

Sure, Fantastic Fest is full of great films, many we might not have a chance to see on the big screen anywhere else. The other great part of the festival, however, is getting to meet many of the directors responsible for creating those films. To sit and chat with them with no pretensions as they mingle with the fans is a special treat.
Michael J. Bassett is one of the few lucky directors to have his film 'Solomon Kane' featured at the festival. While in Texas he wanted to go out… Continue
Yes I am fully aware that Spill.com is an up and coming site for movies, and that's awesome. But are you aware that many movie goers are part of the covenant of the remote control? Even more so when their season of rebirth arrives - the Fall TV Season! Yes it's true that with so many channels and shows debuting that new shows premier all the time, but the Fall is still that time of year when our TV Guides and Entertainment Weeklys are a little heavier -… Continue
Customers that make me angry at work are rare, but this one I just now got over because, holy crap, I don’t care how old this woman is, but there’s no reason, no reason at all, for her to behave this way.
First off, business has been slow. Nobody is going to the movie, and when they do, it is during our weekend (Friday and Saturday). As a result, we are running on minimum staff during the weekdays. If not less, as was the case yesterday.
I didn’t want this to sound like sour grapes on not getting in the pre-screening of Paranormal, I knew the odds of not possibly getting in, but here’s the rub....having confirmed RSVP, having gotten there where their were no more than thirty or forty people ahead, ( in a theater that sits over two hundred) The organizing asswipes made no attempts for crowd control, and with that hundreds of latecomers not only snuck ahead, but were able to gain access within minutes while the organizers stood… Continue
