How Many Games Makes a Console "Worth It"?

I took a look at my gaming library on the shelf and I realize that I don't really think I have a lot of games.  I have about 10-20 games per console I own (Gamecube, Wii, and PS2).  However, I am…Continue

I took a look at my gaming library on the shelf and I realize that I don't really think I have a lot of games.  I have about 10-20 games per console I own (Gamecube, Wii, and PS2).  However, I am content that each console is worth it and has payed for itself with these titles.  How many do you think is necessary before a console is "worth it"? See More

Does knowledge of something alter a movie experience?

I couldn't really find a topic on this so I thought I might add one.  Does previous knowledge of some topic alter a movie experience?  For example: I just finished watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes and I thought the opening was laughably bad as I am in school studying for a field in healthcare and all the stuff with the animal testing and drug trials was just stupid.  Caesar's mother would have been tested for pregnancy before she was brought in for drug trials.  They were having a…See More

Is it Right to Watch Games Instead of Buying Them?

It occurred to me that I have probably watched more games on Youtube than I have played them.  Mostly this is due to most games coming out on platforms I do not have, and that I have a limited budget.  Is it stealing to watch playthroughs to get the story of games without actually playing them?  Further, is it OK to comment or criticize those games without actually playing them? I have watched games like Bioshock and Mass Effect and consider myself a fan, but I have never actually played them. …See More

Any Wii U Recommendations?

Couldn't really find an in-depth thread about the Wii U in general so thought I would start one.  Right now I have Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros Wii U.  Are there any games that anyone can recommend or should I just wait for some decent games to come out that are not just ports of other games?  Feel free to discuss the Wii U and games for it as well.  Below are games I am looking into but am not sure if I will buy. Batman Arkham City:  Never played the game before as I didn't have a…See More

What is the Issue with GameStop

I was listening to an old podcast of the Loading Bar and in it both reviewers expressed that they had issues with GameStop and try to avoid buying from them.  The only issue I have heard about them is the whole selling used games which causes less money to go to developers.  I almost never buy from GameStop myself, but it seems that some of the animosity towards the company goes beyond this business practice.  This is not a defense of GameStop or its policies, I am just curious if there is more…See More

Bad Movies You Like Un-Ironically

I noticed that when I began looking up movie reviews on the internet that there are some movies that are universally considered bad.  I was surprised because I remember liking some of these movies the first time I watched them.  This is not a case of "so bad it's good" like The Room, this is for movies that are considered by the world to be awful like White Chicks, but somehow you ended up actually enjoying in a non-riffing way. I have not watched the following movies in a while, but I remember…See More

Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich is Offensive

OK, this may not be the best forum for this but I have to vent this somewhere.  I was riding in the car with my mom and she was listening to this book on tape.  I have to say what little I heard (about 15-25 minutes) I was offended, and the stuff that wasn't offensive was just stupid.  SPOILERS ahoy but for the love of GOD don't read this book.  First, there was an evil albino called the Yeti.  Initially I was laughing because I had this image of a snowman wielding a rifle, but then my mom told…See More

The Thing 2011 prequel

The Thing 2011 remake/prequel (it has a remake feel to it)I actually liked this movie for about the first half or two-thirds.  I think a few things really worked as a creature feature or monster attack movie.  I actually really liked the CGI and the transformation sequences.  However, there are many parts that did not work and I will go in detail below.  It is impossible to talk about this movie without mentioning the 1982 one, and I think it is these comparisons that hinder this movie.  It has…See More

About Me:
I am a grown man who still watches cartoons. My earliest memories are watching Pixar with my family in theaters, and we still go see them together despite my age. My favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy. I am very easy to please as I like plenty of bad movies, but at the same time I am easy to tick off.
All Time Favorite Movies:
District 9 - delivered everything I wanted in a science fiction movie

The Iron Giant - the first time I ever saw my father cry

The Dark Knight - tense and awesome

Star Wars Original Trilogy - classics my parents grew up with and wanted me to grow up with

Pixar and Dreamworks Movies - beautiful and fun for the family

Hot Fuzz - one of the funniest movies I ever saw with some of the best action I ever saw
All Time Worst Movies:
Meet the Fockers - too much gross-out and sex humor

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - utterly unlikeable characters

The Last Airbender - a poor imitation of a great TV show

Jurassic Park 3 - excuse plot and unbelievable scenario

Transformers - disappointing because the franchise is capable of legitimately good media (Beast Wars)
Favorite Actors or Actresses:
Most Voice Actors
Dwayne Johnson (I don't know why, but I keep rooting for him)
Favorite Directors:
Brad Bird
Andrew Stanton

Hi Dialtribe,

You and I discussed Asperger's syndrome in a topic I made and I recommended for you to watch a film titled ADAM.

I'm not trying to bug you, but for the past few days I've wondered a few times if you ever got around to watching it.

If you did, what did you think about it?
