The new cat's even freakier than the last. But with that bio-luminescent fur it looks like it should have been part of the Pandoran wildlife in Avatar.

The gameplay on RE5 was decent; not good, but decent (my god though, the item selection method they used was ATROCIOUS! It was just like they were trying to rehash things from RE4 that made it such a great game, and they failed). The story and characters in that game, however, were crap. I'm a diehard Resident Evil fan, and I took the story of RE5 as kind of a personal offense, it was just a jumbled together mess. That's cool if you like it, a lot of people do, but as a Resident Evil fan, I just couldn't stand it.

Uh, I think after all the "Year of movie" blogs, that it would sort of be silly to do a "Of Decade" one. =)

Besides, I'd have to go over each one, and just try to pick the "Best one", from each year..... and you KNOW that is going to raise all sorts of hell. lol

Coraline was one of the many films I wanted to see, and as a rush to get my list up, I went to Blockbuster to rent it but all the copies of it were taken.

It's very trimmed down by comparison. In the book, you get the background story of pretty much every student. It's damn deep. The movie also takes some liberties with the character of the "teacher" making him more human which is not bad, but neither is it necessary to tell the story that needs to be told.

The Battle Royale 2 movie goes completely into uncharted territory and you will probably either like it or hate it.

Battle Royale is all kinds of messed up. If you get the chance, try to find the book (If they ever translated it) or manga.

Wow, I had no idea that this even existed. While I already have the film on DVD, I'm seriously considering picking this up. Thanks a ton for showing me that!

That's a good point about gamers and Avatar's CG....

While it was very good CG that by far outshines almost everything done by gaming platforms... I just don't see it quite "ground breaking" as other people thought it was. If anything, I would say that the most "advanced" aspects were in the ability to do facial expressions more than anything else I saw. With possible "skin textures" being a close second. Outside of that, the aircraft/landscapes/mechs... all were pretty much the same as other CGI movies.

Was 2009 a good Sci-fi year? I would say that it's possible to debate just how "good" it was. We did have some real stinkers out this year too. (Transformers 2, Diego etc, etc). But what we had was a "revitalization" of Sci-Fi. Instead of dumping so many different "fantasy/superhero" movies on us, we got a fresh batch of actual "Sci-Fi" that was more hard-lined in regards to typical Sci-Fi. Will it continue? I hope so.... but with Harry Potter and other movies right around the corner, I'm afraid we'll see another batch of the typical "Fantasy/Superhero" movies for a bit longer before we see more "mainstreamed" Sci-Fi.

Having said that. I will say that my personal opinion is that we got 3 completely fabulous Sci-Fi movies, and a bunch of "middle ground" to "blah" movies. It's just these 3 completely blows everything else out of the water.

Moon
District 9
Avatar.

The rest (Trans 2, Terminator, Diego, etc, etc) sort of don't compare to those three.

Thanks. I am actually to the point now, where I honestly think that most of the "hatred" against Avatar is really people just wanting to bash Cameron because of Titanic. But since this is his first real "Movie" in theaters since Titanic, that it's the only chance they've had, so their "views" on Avatar is already jaded towards hating it before they get in their seats.

Oh, and you missed a piece of corn there. =)

Man we already have that version of the film pretty much. LOL. There are already 3 different versions available right now...

As for it being the Blade Runner i don't know what to say to that. Blade Runner found it's audience on video years later. Watchmen already has it's audience.
