Sad, I thought you wanted an honest conversation, but seeing your statuses, comments, and replies to others it is apparent you only wish to goad people into emotional responses.  Disappointing.

For the Iron Man 3 stuff

The first scene in the movie, everyone in the room thinks this is a door to another dimension or world, yet Hawkeye is the only one who says door have two sides, right?  That is something I can totally forgive and let go, to show you an example of something being "a little goofy", but not enough to bother me.  Same scene, Loki takes control of Hawkeye and has him shoot Nick Fury.  Fury is standing still at a very short distance away.  They show Hawkeye's bad ass aim and ability over and over throughout the movie along with him being under control and killing people or putting people in situations where death is highly likely.  So, Nick Fury should be dead in the first scene of the movie.  This told me right away, not to worry, there will be no consequences, everyone that matters will be completely safe, I should just sit back and enjoy the popcorn and pretty pictures, thus there was no tension for the rest of the movie.

The second thing that broke the movie for me was Agent Coulson's death.  He did not matter, so everyone was still completely safe.  The problem was this team of superheroes know for a fact the world is in grave danger, Loki has already killed dozens to get that staff, and every human life could be at risk.  That is not enough to convince them to work together, but a bunch of bloody trading cards do it?  WTH?  And then, Fury is all, yeah I faked the bloody cards as I knew it was exactly what was needed to get them to work together.  Seriously?

If I had not already given up on the movie's plot and just accepted that I already paid, I should watch the nice effects on the big screen at the Drafthouse, never watch this crap again, and that I had nothing else to do that Monday, I would have walked out after Fury acknowledged to Hill that Coulson did not have the cards on him when he died.

Well, I have my holes in Iron Man 3 in your other thread.  I hope they can be explained as there is an outside chance at that happening.  The holes in the Avengers do not have that chance.  I wanted the Avengers to live up to the world and characters it created and it betrayed that in the first scene and utterly destroyed it with having Coulson die in order to get them to work as a team.  Having it be a planted fake out makes it more stupid and unbearable.

That said, my dislike of Iron Man 3 doesn't come close to how much I hated the Avengers.  And now, they are saying that Agent Coulson is alive, making the absolute worst part of that movie at least 20x more god awful.  Wow, Marvel, just wow.  No faith in them anymore and right before my sequel comes out.

I'm not the only person I've heard make this claim so take that as you will. I will state once more that the kid was not my only problem with the movie, but was the tipping point that brought my overall opinion of it down.

Anyways I didn't like or hate the movie enough (Matinee) to devote any more time for me to continue disagreeing with someone about it. You obviously didn't have a problem with it and I did. That's all that can be said. Have a good rest of your day, I'm going to go watch stuff on Netflix.

I will admit I despise little children but that doesn't in any way cloud my judgement of the movie. If anything it makes me look at their performances with a larger amount of scrutiny. This particular one was bad and like I said before, took me out of the movie and made me realize how poorly put together that section of the movie was. Nothing can ruin a movie more than one actor (kid of adult) dropping the ball when almost everyone else is doing a good job. To give someone so much screen time where they have to act against RDJ, who was better than he has been in all the Marvel movies, really exemplified the actor's faults.

I didn't say that. There are a few examples (though not many) of good kid actors. Most of them are bad, and this one falls into the latter category.

I thought the child actor was terrible. His lines all fell flat, his shallow attempts at charisma only made me realize how much I was not enjoying that part of the movie. There wasn't one second where I found it believable that a little kid could be talking at the same pace as Tony Stark and have any idea how to work on/fix the Iron Man suit.  I really think that part could have worked if they had chosen an older actor.

Ya I don't know if I'd go as far to compare it to goodfellas, not the editing for sure, but I see we're your coming from and do agree with the ending comparison, to an extent. Ya I agree with your assessment of the humor, it did bring most jokes back into the plot, though the thing that bothered me was one minute I would be laughing my ass off at a joke and then the next joke would fall flat, but comedy is very subjective. Also, I have a morbid sense of humor also, and this movie is very dark, and that's what I liked the most about it.
