If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Bought and read Carlyle's book. I really wanted to love this, sounded like something I would in the LEOG discussion. That said, I was disappointed. At the midpoint between book 1 and 2 it felt like it was about to start getting good but it never really did, as eager as I was to like it. I felt like it had the plot points of an engaging story but the writing just didn't do it for me and I never got attached or fell in love with the characters.
The promotion comparing it to Neil Gaiman is a mistake, read some reviews where people got annoyed at that and I get why, not that I think Carlyle see's himself that way. I really hope his next book will be better, and I say that without sarcasm or condescension.
