If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Longleke posted a discussionI have been playing "Snowgoons - The Legacy" ever since I heard it, pretty much non-stop. That beat is dope and the lyrics are just are just...damn can't even think of a proper name to describe those lyrics. Dope, Hype, On point....This has got me thinking. What is everybody's example of a hot beat, but the lyrics are just garbage.

Permalink Reply by ▲UltraK.I.D.™▽ on August 8, 2012 at 11:31am Here's an example, New York Minute starts off with sped up soul sample that reminds you of some early Roc-a-Fella type shit then the beat switches and turns into a dark RZA styled beat ...the beat is pretty dope and hearing it leads you to believe that this nigga is about to go in but instead what we get is some of the worst rap verses ever and I'll be the first to say that I could give a damn about lyrics but this dude doesn't have a good rapping voice (he literally sounds mentally challenged) plus his flow is always awkward as fuck so it's impossible for me to give him a pass. I swear he's only hyped up for two reasons, one being that he's a NY rapper and NY niggas will dickride anyone from their city no matter how bad they are and two being that he knows allot of people who's either in the industry or connected to people from the industry (this is why I hate how the industry works). I swear every time I hear one of his songs I get hyped, the beats he picks out catch your ears quick and makes you anticipate dope verses but then nothing. I'll be listening to his debut only for the production and features with little some hope that he improved his mc skills but I highly doubt it.
Here's the song, for some reason all traces of the original song have been deleted on youtube including the music video so I can only show you the remix which features Mase.

Permalink Reply by ▲UltraK.I.D.™▽ on August 9, 2012 at 3:58pm I like those rappers and when you think about it the rappers he chooses to work with fit his style best. I can't imagine a rapper like Kanye or even someone super lyrical trying to rap over his beats, I really can't even imagine any other rapper flowing over Palace other than Rocky.
Permalink Reply by The true Bohemian on August 10, 2012 at 1:11pm I think Danny Brown could, and Joey Bada$$ could make it work. Mos Def might be able to rock some of his slower least grandiose beats.
Permalink Reply by ▲UltraK.I.D.™▽ on August 13, 2012 at 11:32am I can't imagine Danny rapping over those cloud beats (plus he already has a great production team behind him, the beats on XXX were fantastic), Joey Bada$$ isn't a hipster/weirdo/swag rapper and neither is Mos Def so I can't see them either. Clams Casino fits more with the hipster side of Hip Hop, he'll keep producing for those type of rappers and I'm fine with that because I love those type of rappers.
He's worked with The Weeknd, you might like enjoy his music more than Lil' B or A$AP
