Omitting that horrible sci fi channel show, what would be your ideal tv adaptation of the books? Which actors would you cast? What network would you like to see it on? Tell us your thoughts.

Ya know, the sci fi series had some good stuff to it.  I liked the way the handled bob, thought the guy playing harry was pretty good, but little things bugged the shit out of me.  Part of the charm of the dresden files is that he is a fucking wizard.  he has a staff and a blasting rod and pimps around like a boss.  Updating him to be more contemporary didnt fit well I thought.  Giving him a hockey stick, a drum stic etc.

I think that the show maybe started too early.  If they started now they have a WHOOOOLE lot more to build from.  I think maybe if they did like mini series for each book it would work

In an ideal world, I'd like it to air on HBO since their track record with fantasy is so great( Game of Thrones, True Blood). It should follow a minimum one book per season format and cast the following actors:

Sarah Shahi as Karrin Murphy: I know she is the wrong ethnicity, but anyone who saw her play Dani Reese on the short lived NBC show 'Life' knows what I'm talking about.

Michael Jai White as Donald Morgan: Actually the obvious answer would be Samuel L Jackson since Morgan has such an over the top angy personality; but i think Michael can pull it off and has the physical presence to make Morgan as intimidating as he is meant to be.

Ben Kingsley as Bob the skull: its just a speaking role and I think he can bring the sort of levity a role like Bob's needs. Plus he always struck me as a dirty old man type so it fits.

Stephen Lang as Michael Carpenter: He is a bit old for the role but considering how fit he is and how much skill he has as an actor, i think he can play the role with the quiet dignity Michael deserves.

I can't stand changing race of people in books or film.  Jim Butcher goes to pretty good lengths describing his characters and never once did i see morgan as a black person, especially a big burly badass mofo Michael jai white or sam jackson.  He is an older, built like a rock, hard ass white dude. always will be :D

I don;t know if you guys have seen the graphic novels they have been making of the books, but the way they are drawn is bad ass. fits what i had in my mind to the T.
