Ohstate411 posted a statusI have lived in Austin for a few months now and don't have a single restaurant I can recommend to anyone coming into town for the first time. I live near Cedar Park and don't go downtown often. I have tried some Mexican and BBQ places around the Anderson Mill area and they have all been bad. Memphis had much better examples of both of those foods and I have yet to find a place that I can even tolerate, much less recommend. So, this is for those of you who can recommend places to eat for those coming into town. I hear good things about Salt Lick BBQ, but I have not had a chance to try it yet.

Carrob's Cafe downtown is pretty cool for a tiny, hard to spot gem.
ThunderCloud Subs is tasty and can usually be found not too far from pretty much anywhere.

Iron Cactus (Tex Mex)
Stubb's BBQ
Juan in a Million
The Shady Grove (Awesome hippie joint)
Kerbey Lane
Round Rock Donuts (best donuts I've ever had)
