Andrew Bond posted a discussionITT: We discuss a hypothetical scenario in which our favorite artistic material is ruined by terrible direction, the wrong writers, Bay-slposions, and poor actor choice.
Take note that my personal opinions of the following director and actors do affect my opinion of how they would affect the film, I dont think it would work if they were assigned to it.
I'll go first I suppose:
The Sandman
Directed by Tim Burton
Starring: Well honestly do I even have to tell you? Its a Tim Burton Movie.
Fine.....
Johnny Depp as Dream
Helena Bonham Carter as Death
God save the world if this film is ever made.

No, of course it is not ruined forever, but it certainly has a negative effect upon my enjoyment of a material, I DONT want to re-read Sandman, and hear Johnny Depp saying Dream's lines in my head.

However in retrospect, I can easily identify movies that ruined franchises for me in the past. The Star Wars prequels, everything after Aliens and X-Men 3, for example.
Fortunately Michael Bay doesn't direct sequels for other peoples work, he has his own shit to work on.

Permalink Reply by Cthulhu R'lyeh on May 1, 2011 at 8:11pm I am actually hoping he does it immediately after Avatar 3. It sounds like it is perfect for him.

Permalink Reply by Cthulhu R'lyeh on May 2, 2011 at 7:04am It sounds more like Terminator than Avatar. It will also have a female protagonist, something that we know that Cameron is good at.
And I dunno what you mean about the action scenes. I thought Avatar had amazing action scenes.
