First and Only - Dan Abnett
I'm currently reading Battle Royal, Persian Boy, Water Wars, some H.P. Lovecraft stories and Catching Fire. I just finished John dies at the End and House of leaves.
"Bible History: Containing The Most Remarkable Events of the Old and New Testaments. To which is added a compendium of church history. For the use of the Catholic schools in the United States"
Yes. That's the name. It was gifted to me by my mother recently but was originally owned by my great grandmother. I remember thumbing through it when I was visiting my mom once and commenting to her that the illustrations were great. David's slaying of Goliath being a favourite.
As this was apparently issued as part of religious instruction in her school there is notation in the borders and at chapters' ends that she wrote over a century ago. As this is a textbook the stories are written in quite a matter of fact manner. It also gives insight into the Catholic Church's view on many ecumenical matters of the day, such as commentary on Palestine generations prior to Israel's existence (It was still part of Ottoman Syria when the book was written).
A very interesting read thus far.
Damn! I can't believe I didn't know(or maybe I did, but forgot about it) Drive was a movie adapted from a book.
If you like your Martin, be sure to check out "Fevre Dream". A really good vampire read.
Just finished Redshirts by John Scalzi
It was great, but that was the most meta shit I ever read.
I just finished The Eye of the World and I absolutely loved it. It kinda got slow in the middle, but the whole third act was grade A awesomesauce.
