I was interested in knowing if anyone knew any good information on how to do Happy Hour style video capturing on a console? Also, my friends and I have been playing around with the idea of starting a podcast for a while now and I didnt know if there was any common equpiment that the two ideas might share.. Microphone being an obvious necessesity for either.

I believe Rooster Teeth uses a Roxio game capture and I use a Hauppage HD Recorder. When it comes to a podcast if you're broke you can use a Rock band mic and just make sure you pay attention to how close or far away your mouth is from the mic. Lots of folks would recommend using audacity to record...I personally hate it. I use wavepad sound editor to record and Sony Vegas to edit. If you have a Mac then you have Garage Band and half of my advice doesn't matter :-/

Permalink Reply by Deacon Frost on December 30, 2012 at 1:36pm Thanks everyone for the input! It looks like I may need to do a few upgrades to my old PC. Apparently years of neglect (and being broke as shit) have left me needing some upgrades. Thus far I think I'm lookin at the Roxio or the Roxio HD.
Anyone know if a good mixer would be required if I wanted to record multiple people? I would assume so but its better to ask. :)
