If it's crap ... We'll tell you
I don't mind paying for content. I want to keep indie films on the site. Honestly I don't care as much about bigger films. I think we all need to keep spill the same. I think we should pay for some of the content. Like a lot of the smaller films.
idk. This isn't the saddest day of my life, but I'll miss the reviews. I go to this site everyday. I don't want to see it go away.
As Korey said - it's not going away, it's not the end, people are making this sound like an apocalypse of the site, it's just they've had to let go some people, and the reviews are not going away, the loading bar perhaps forever but not surely forever, it's not necessary to blow this out of proportion
Cant say I didn't see this coming.. I only just downloaded an android Spill app last weekend and it was made by a fan of the site there was no way for me to easily get the pod casts on my Droid without modifying an existing app.
I have no idea if my podcast downloads are being tracked by the site or how many other people do the same thing as me. I know they don't want to but you can only go soo long before people start finding alternatives to this site that are easier to navigate to. If I had a Spill app that gave me a quick review , I would have recommended it to people but it doesn't exist until I got the unofficial app I wouldn't even attempt to load the site on smartphone the site looks great on my PC but on my phone touch screen all those pop up menus are a nightmare
As far as the gaming goes , the guys had personality and two of them seems pretty into it but most of the time they didn't seem to even care about what game they were reviewing , they were there for a paycheck and that was pretty much it. You can only get away with that for soo long before somebody pulls the plug. You have Angry Joe on YouTube that does everything the Loading Bar does and is easy to find any and all episodes ..
The site should have been integrated with YouTube a lot more.
I know they have a channel but it needs more presence I have a PC I use on my living room big screen and a lot of people have either Roku box or a device with a YouTube app on it. YouTube is in the Living room now.. Then you have Steam and PS3 and Xbox Live .. Spill should have been making a presence on all of those gaming apps If there is other reasons besides technical to not have more content on YouTube channel then these guys are shooting themselves in the foot everyday by not having a YouTube channel up and running and having full time employees running it and editing content for posting ..
This site is nice but all the traffic is on YouTube right now until that changes you have to go where the traffic is , Hollywood and Spill should have figured out what they wanted to do with a YouTube channel a long time ago , I like the site a lot it has potential but if you never do anything with the potential then you wind up as a "what could have been"
What's all this about? A podcast getting cancelled?
More like ALL of them are getting cancelled...
Anyone not named Korey, Leon, Cyrus, or Co-Host 3000 is officially outta here...there was even talk of giving the axe TO Leon too, but apparently Korey was able to at least save him for a diminished role. The Call In Show and FungusMonkey's Q&A blog should catch you up better.
... I still don't see the big deal...
Yikes. You're hip. It is to the many that once worked for the site either via the podcasts that are all simultaneously being cancelled and/or the many who once worked behind the scenes; all of which have lost their jobs. Sure, businesses do this. It happens. That doesn't take away that for those involved - it is a big deal, regardless of your contrarian insensitivities. A little perspective is good.
Yes, me not losing my shit over some podcasts being cancelled is because I'm a hip contrarian who lacks perspective.
Maybe we should get together some money for these guys. I mean, now that they're not raking in all that podcast commentator and/or website animator dough, they're probably going to lose their mansions.
Fucking Socialists, always picking on the rich people...
Who said you should be losing your shit?
Sorry, I guess that's just me overreacting. That seems to be a running theme around here, so I just went with it.
How about you get together with all the people making threads and status updates about how this is the worst thing that's ever happened, and come to a consensus concerning how much of a fuck I should pretend to give to be out from under the label of flippant hipsterism for not getting bent out of shape concerning a website I don't pay to be a part of's podcast cancellations and personnel issues.
Podcasts come and podcasts go. The animators that got fired obviously weren't pulling their weight or they would have been kept on.
Not to kick a guy while he's down, but the last animated review I watched I had to turn off because of how horrible it was.
It sucks that people lost their jobs, but there are worse things happening to people out there, and anyone put in to dire straits due to this strikes me as being dumb enough to deserve being there.
The core of Spill.com remains. I really couldn't care less if some superfluous fat gets trimmed.
Yes but the only audio content you listen to are the reviews, not the podcasts, so you don't have any personal investment with their demise. Others do, hence the outcry. Therefore you shouldn't be dumbfounded by peoples immediate gut reactions in light of the shows that they've been listening to for years being shut down. What was fat to you was what brought people here. You don't have to give a fuck.
I never said I was dumbfounded.
I said I didn't see the big deal. I still don't. Because I'm hip.
