If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Ever watch the Oscars (or read the results the day after) and say to yourself, “that performance was good, but it’s not Oscar worthy.” What are some of the Performances you’ve seen that you think are not good enough for a nomination, let alone a win?
I like John Wayne, one of my favorite actors, but I think that his role in True Grit wasn’t anything special. I would say that his roles in The Searchers, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance were worth a nomination at least, particularly Valance as a supporting actor.
Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman. More of an apology Oscar than anything. When we think of great Pacino movies, we think of the Godfather, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon....and Scent of a Woman?!
Sean Connery in The Untouchables
Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting
Michael Cane in The Cider House Rules
Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost
Diane Weist in Bullets Over Broadway
Gary Cooper in Sergeant York
Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady
Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday
Liza Minnelli in Cabaret
Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich
Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side
Fine performances, many of them; but nothing extraordinary.
Sean Connery says fuck you yi cunt!
In a horrible effort at an Irish accent, I'm sure :P
Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man. It was serviceable but not Oscar-worthy, in my opinion.
I forgot about this one, and I agree. I still think the guy should've been nominated for Straight Time, to me it's one of his greatest performances..
