There's your problem.
Permalink Reply by Muffin-Of-Doom on January 22, 2012 at 4:03pm What's the difference between reddit and 4chan? And don't give me that bullshit "it's good" excuse.
Permalink Reply by Jimmy Bananers on January 22, 2012 at 4:12pm Well I have to ask what's wrong with reddit? Other than the "TIL" aka Today I looked at wikipedia, "Nailed It", "[FIXED]", Pun replies, Bacon, "look what my made up girlfriend made me", "chuck fucking testa, "r/spacedicks", novelty accounts, and the "im a derp who was raped by a gold fish ask me anything" posts get as annoying and stupid as youtube comments.
That being said I enjoy some of the linked videos, pictures, articles, discussions, and memes being all in one place.
@Angus von Bain Reddit's shitty layout is not as bad as 4chans and everyone doesn't call each other "newfags" and "niggers".
Permalink Reply by George Knight on January 22, 2012 at 4:25pm The appeal of 4chan is not it's content or userbase, but rather the anonymous nature of the conversations held there. Because, with the exception of tripcodes, there is no way to differentiate one poster from another. Because of this, people are much more inclined to say and do what they want without fear of repercussion or backlash. Especially on controversial topics. That's why so many funny things are spawned there.
Reddit on the other hand, is made up of mainly edgy teenagers who circle jerk five year old "memes" that were never all that funny to begin with. Any serious conversation held there is seriously watered down by fear of "Losing Karma" and "getting downvoted." However these features make it much more accessible to the masses, which attracts way more retards than you'll ever find on /b/. The type of people who find Big Bang Theory funny, which is ironic as they've advertised the show there.

I check the front page or r/gaming pretty much everyday and haven't seen any of those things for weeks. Really sounds like you're describing youtube. "NEWFAG CAN"T TRIFORCE"
@George knight
Do you really think you know what the community is mainly comprised off? If someone enjoys a shitty meme fine all power to them I don't care. Anyone who really cares about karma is an asshole and I don't think there's any less anonymity with reddit than 4chan.
