If it's crap ... We'll tell you
To everyone who loves the ending and says we're all a bunch of entitled whiners who are upset because we didn't ride off into the sunset with our LI, I have one thing to say: SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTT THE FUUUUUUUCK UUUUUUUUUUPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I'll get back to that later....
The thing I really want to discuss now is the general consensus of almost every bigshot game review website.
It seriously astounds me that with all the 9 out of 10's a perfect scores there very few reviews that mention the ending, and the ones that do don't say how terrible it is...
G4TV's review caught my eye in particular: this is a quote talking about the ending.
"What is so unique in this game is how the presence of its conclusion feels like the existential dread that infuses the characters that make up its universe. The paradox of the game becomes painfully prescient as it draws inexorably towards its conclusion. Here, Shepard is trying to determining the fate of everything but the inevitability of the final is inescapable. All the decisions you continue to make in Mass Effect may be less consequential but they feel all the more grave as if the game is becoming a testament to who you are, or who you want to be."
If you can somehow extract anything of significance from that paragraph, Congratulations! You are now fluent in complete gibberish.
It sounds like he wants to use big words to make the ending seem good, but sorry it's not working...
And sorry to you too Clint Mansell, not even your epically dramatic score can save this narrative train wreck.
What do you guys think, were all the journalists paid off, or did they just get through most of the game saying "there's no way they can fuck it up this far in the story" like all the rest of us were probably saying.
We really don't need any more Mass Effect threads. However, while I'm here I'll dump some stuff. While I agree, you'll need to form a better arguement to get your point across around these parts. Hopefully this helps.
Thanks for the advice, this is the first discussion I've ever posted.
I wasn't arguing, I was just asking what everyone else thought.
People who review games professionally enjoy a game I didn't? It must be a conspiracy!! Bioware bought out IGN's favorable reviews with all the Nazi Gold EA gave them to ruin the game with sprites and back freckles!!!!
I don't get why you people love complaining about this series so much. Mass Effect 2 was great and 3 (so far) is great too. Not to mention Bioware has basically said they'll eventually release DLC to give you people the ending you all want so badly.
Yeah, if anything that's a bad thing. To be honest, with all of the bullshit they've pulled with this game so far, I definitely wouldn't put it past EAware to have purposesly cut the actual ending to release as DLC later. Brilliant strategy too. All of the Biodrones will eat it up and hail them as heros, and the people smart enough to see how releasing a real ending to a game post launch is a bad thing have already payed 60-80 dollars for the game.
inb4 HURR DURR CONSPIRACY
Remember that whole day one DLC being on the disc is just a conspiracy thing? The one that EA and Bioware can be quoted saying it was made after the game went gold? You should watch that Requiem for EA/Bioware video I posted above. Turns out we were right all along. EA is the cancer killing gaming, and they've almost finished squeezing out every bit of credibility Bioware once had. With TORtanic bleeding money and a disappointing ME3 launch (From a sales perspective, from a PR one it's a fucking nightmare), it's just a matter of time now before they throw them away and by another promising studio to soul suck.
Only a little more than 800k on the first day, way below their expectation.
This article does not paint it in that light, but here's a source: http://www.megagames.com/news/mass-effect-3-first-days-sales-revealed
3.5 million shipped, 800k sold day one. Better than many smaller titles, but Bioware was looking to do CoD/Skyrim numbers with Mass Effect 3.
How many sales since release date?
"Bioware was looking to do CoD/Skyrim numbers with Mass Effect 3."
Any data to back your claim up or is that just complete speculation?
If Bioware charges money for a new ending, the fanbase will never forgive them for it.
But then again, I wouldn't put it past EA when it comes to something like this. New endings have been done before right?
Fallout 3 rings a bell, also Prince of Persia 2008 where we had to pay 8 bucks to replace a shitty ending with a slightly less shitty ending.
The only thing i'll say for the ending is, be ready.
