If it's crap ... We'll tell you
Elfen Lied, that could be a great sci-fi flick.Gotta remove the echi but the rest would be awesome.
I don't really want Japan to make any remakes of American films. The American influence on Japanese film (or manga---a byproduct of the occupation) is so heavy already; the conscious rejection and skewering of this American influence is what seems to produce the more interesting Japanese films.
Um, the thing between the U.S. and Japan isn't necessarily about remakes/reboots/revivals for the sake of them; it's about Samurai films and Westerns being transposed into each other respectively in the U.S. and Japan. As such, the only remake/reboot/revival that I'm excited to see is this:
I'm okay with Americans remake of Japanese films except for anything that has to do with Nuclear fallout and changing it, like the American remake wanted to, to 9/11, because we truly do not have the right.
But what about this. Akira set in LA, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, and most of China have become inhabitable due to nuclear fallout, and there was mass migration. Lot of ghettos and racism between the different Asian communities. Akira is under the Colosseum, because since the Raiders left LA, it's hardly ever used. Tetsuo and Kaneda are first generation Americans from Japanese immigrants. Why not?
Now that I think of it, I can't wait for Yojimbo, but with Fraternities, or better yet, with High School Clicks. Someone should get on that.
