Is Cartoon Network Trying To Revive Itself?

I've noticed something weird going on over the last few months on Cartoon Network.

Over the last six months, they've brought back reruns of their classic shows. For about four months between November and March, they brought back Dexter's Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls early weekday mornings. Then, in March, they brought back Looney Tunes after almost a decade off of Cartoon Network. And now, in the last week, they brought back one of my favorite cartoons when I was a kid, 2 Stupid Dogs, which is airing at 2:30pm.

I'm wondering is Cartoon Network trying to revive itself by bringing back these classic shows or is it just a coincedence?

Cartoon Network has improved on its' original shows in the last year with really entertaining shows like Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, The Looney Tunes Show, The Amazing World Of Gumball, and Regular Show.

Has the network finally listened to the old fans of the network by bringing back some of the classic shows or, like I said, is it a coincedence? Also, what shows would you like to see CN bring back in the near future? I'm still holding out for The Flintstones and The Jetsons to make a return. What about you?

I'm going to go with coincidence. I wish CN would go back to those amazing days where toonami and cartoon cartoons ruled ass.
I'd like to see Cartoon Network do what Nickelodeon does with their Nicktoons and just give them their own channel instead of placing them on Boomerang, which is suppose to be a network for classic cartoons.

I just want Toonami back. but, I'll have to settle for this when it comes out...

Good enough for me man!
Well, that was lame.
Seriously, Powerpuff Girls anime? Fuck that.

Shit. This is pretty cool (minus the Powerpuff shit, that just looks awful) and bringing on Spectacular Spider-man, X-Men and DB's got me pretty excited.

I'm skeptical on whether or not this is gonna last or ever get big enough to get noticed by Cartoon Network, but best of wishes to these guys (or guy if it is indeed just one man doing this).

Did I donate? HELLS YEAH!...

...Well, I would if the donate button stopped bringing me to a "Fatal Failure" page. (Foreshadowing, perhaps?) If it ever gets fixed, I'll shell some ducats for this nostalgia project, and you should, too, if you're in the age range of 16-32!

Don't forget Young Justice. That shows is BADASS, I've been craving a Bruce Timm-ish superhero show, and they finally delivered.

I was just thinking, literally a few hours ago, about how much I loved Toonami and how I don't even know what is on CN anymore.

Made me think about shit like this;

I love how Toonami took total crap anime and made it funky-cool.
Says you. I think they took total crap anime and made it monotonous. Toonami actually left such a bad impression with me that I avoided anime on TV for a time.
Considering how much I disliked 90% of the anime Toonami used, these promos were an improvement in my mind. I find few things more painful in this life than Dragonball Z.

For a network to grow, it MUST develop it's own talent, it's own shows. CN started by showing a bunch of old shows and anime (some which was already well known). but slowing began to add in some original content (and yeah I agree that Powerpuff Girls is garbage).

But then...they got weird. The animation in the shows added was bizarre and hideous. The stories began to make less and less sense, going more for over-the-top than story building or entertaining. Now one or two shows like this can be ok...but when 70-80% of your content is like this, then it sucks. Worse, they began to show the same show ALL DAY LONG. You do that, then no one cares to get home and watch because hey, it's always on...they can catch it later....

Adult Swim is also at fault here too. By basically becoming the Family Guy channel and dumping half their content for HORRIBLE live-action shows, it's become the hipster's ideal of CN...a sarcastic raspberry at adults that still dare to watch 'kiddy shows'.

CN needs a massive wake-up call.
