Permalink Reply by The One They Called Chucky on November 15, 2012 at 12:12am While I think Maverick is up there, Josteo, Hector, and Uncomfertable Telling are three other big ones. I'd say the latter's streak a while back may take the cake, though, as Maverick's threads sometimes have a tendency to ascend to hilarity.
I'd say better questions would be:
Whether or not he is really spam from Hollywood.com or something?
How many sex offender lists is he aiming to get on?
Excedra...

Permalink Reply by Chig Champa on November 15, 2012 at 2:45am Maverick's forums are utter shit, but there's two kinds of thread makers I find more annoying.
The first is the kind that writes a ridiculously long thread title, and then writes "What do you think?", or "Your thoughts?" or some similar bullshit as the body.
If it's more than a single sentence they usually post a link to some news website. Not a single piece of exposition or self expression.
It's especially obnoxious when they proceed to bandwagon on to whatever opinion seems to be the most popular one getting tossed around in the thread itself.
The second, and by far the most annoying, are the people who make threads just to promote a podcast.
Even if they spend a few paragraphs sharing an idea or opinion they completely torpedo it with some dumb fucking advertisement.
They don't want a real conversation, they just want to tell you what they think and then direct you to another place where you can learn more about what they think.
The worst part is they never have anything worthwhile to say. Just because you can make a podcast doesn't mean you're interesting or charismatic enough to have one.
Choke on a dick, you shills.
Permalink Reply by MDS on November 15, 2012 at 3:04am But Chig, without the threads to promote the podcast, how are we going to know when to avoid the shitty things to begin with?
Permalink Reply by Artie Fufkin on November 15, 2012 at 4:49am Chig mentioned my pet hate, the "What are your thoughts on...(insert shite question here)" without explaining any of their own thoughts to get the topic started.
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
Permalink Reply by Id0ntknow on November 17, 2012 at 3:19pm Me, it's me... at least, I know I've done it.
I just like to hear other's opinions first... I jump in after a few posts. I will attempt not to do this from now on.
Permalink Reply by The One They Called Chucky on November 15, 2012 at 7:19am Would I qualify for the first one? I know I've made threads without a self-opinion (and if there is any, it's only a hint), but that's mainly because I know what I think and I'm more than interested in what others think. If there isn't much in terms of exposition (like with my Ron Paul and Karl Rove threads), I typically assume people are smart enough or at the very least, in the know enough that they don't really need any exposition.
Permalink Reply by Artie Fufkin on November 15, 2012 at 7:26am You may know what YOU think but how are we supposed to? The whole point of a 'discussion' is to put across your points of view on whatever topic has been brought up and like Chig so eloquantly states
"It's especially obnoxious when they proceed to bandwagon on to whatever opinion seems to be the most popular one getting tossed around in the thread itself."
Why should we enlighten them with our views without first hearing theirs? How many conversations do you have where you just mention a topic then sit mute while your friends tell you theirs?
Permalink Reply by The One They Called Chucky on November 15, 2012 at 7:41am "You may know what YOU think but how are we supposed to?" - I typically don't try to make a point of letting people know what I think right off the bat when starting a thread. I don't assume people know where I come from either.
"How many conversations do you have where you just mention a topic then sit mute while your friends tell you theirs?" - A lot, actually. I could merely mention the word 'Obama', and my friends would easily run with that. Like I hope I got across, I assume that when bringing up a topic, that people at least know about enough about the topic to begin with that they can roll with it. I don't assume they're stupid. Ex: WIth my Karl Rove thread, I was assuming people knew who he was, what he'd done (lost his shit and made excuses after he lost $300 Million in an "investment" of politicians, assuming money was the only thing needed- also one of Bush Jr.'s baldheaded cuckoos), and running with that, their thoughts on the man. I'm guessing the Spillios are different than my friends off the site.
"Why should we enlighten them with our views without first hearing theirs?" - Hm. I think you bring up a great point here. "Give, and ye' shall receive...", so to speak. I'll keep this in mind.
Permalink Reply by The Dubya on November 16, 2012 at 8:32am I think he's talking about Snyderman type threads, where he LITERALLY says nothing to get the discussion going, then just pops in at random points of the thread going "Mmmmhmmm! Mmmhmmm! OOOO GET EM!" like he's in the crowd watching people playing the dozens or something.
Permalink Reply by Ultimate Snyderman on November 16, 2012 at 4:20pm Admittedly that is true, I do have the tendency to do that.
