This is pretty simple. Just name a remake that you think was equal to or better than the original, and say why you believe this.

Given that

Hollywood has released A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010, I though this would be appropriate timing.

My remake of choice is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I thought it had good acting, especially for a slasher film. It gets points for making Jennifer Biels look hotter than ever. I really liked the suspense in the film and that it didn't get too gory. Most remakes of slasher films tend to go overboard on this factor and it turn into a "Hey! Look how many barrels of blood we bought for this film" Now, I'm a gore fan, but it certainly isn't required for me. Another interesting fact is that it doesn't end in a cliffhanger or a "wait until the next film" type of ending. Maybe we'll get a sequel, maybe not. We did, however get a prequel- that's another story.

A lot of people are saying that this isn't as good as the original, I disagree.

Oh and, to those who don't like it: Stop blaming Michael Bay! He was the fucking producer, not the director!

1. The Thing

2. The Magnificent Seven

3. Scarface

4. The Blob

5. Dawn Of The Dead
ow shit i forgot that scarface was a remake

With Ralph Bakshi's version out first, does the Peter Jacksons version of Lord of the Rings count as a remake?
star trek and batman begins wernt really remakes, they were more like reboots and lord of the rings was based on the book so i dont think its a remake
The Amityillie Horror
Dawn of the Dead

The Birdcage- I've never seen the original, but you can't tell me Robin Williams + Nathan Lane doesn't equal genius.
The Departed (that's a remake, right?...)
Romeo and Juliet/Macbeth (well, there've been a lotta good renditions since the '60s one)
