If it's crap ... We'll tell you
The Peanuts are a big part of my childhood. Unfortunately, a new film is announced for 2015 that will be CGI. I hope the film is good, but I don't know. This news truly is terrible.
Nonetheless, the Peanuts have still had many wonderful movies. My personal favorite would be "A Boy Named Charlie Brown". It was the first theatrically released Peanuts film, and was released in 1969 (fun fact, this was Peter Robbins's final time voicing Charlie Brown, his first being the original Peanuts TV special "A Charlie Brown Christmas" released in 1965).
Anyways, the main plot of a boy named Charlie Brown is him competing in the spelling bee, hoping to finally prove himself and stop being teased by the other children. Everything great about Charlie Brown is in this movie, and some of the funniest moments I have ever seen in a Peanuts film are in this one.
So fellow Spill Crew, what's your favorite Charlie Brown movie? (Korey, I know you love these guys!)
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown I found interesting because it was based on the musical and it was interesting to see it set to animation. Unfortunately, Peanuts is much like Blondie to me: I don't necessarily find them amusing but rather comforting that they were a benign constant. I'm very interested to see the CG movie, nonetheless. Out of the half hour specials, I think the Christmas and Halloween specials were my favorites. Nice thread, by the way.
Thanks. BTW, yeah, the Christmas and Halloween specials were my favorites as a little kid :)
I have two: Race for your Life, and Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown.
Never seen Bon Voyage, but I love Race for your life :)
Bon Voyage involves a student exchange program and delving into the history of Charlie's grandfather, Silas Brown. It has a more adult feel to it without being preachy or going over the heads of younger viewers. It's a much quieter film, but it also has some great Charlie moments (in particular, the scene where Patty and Charlie have to share a desk in class.)
That's my two favorite too :)
I love all four movies.
A Boy Named Charlie Brown (1969)
Snoopy Come Home (1972)
Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown (1977)
Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown and Don't Come Back!! (1980)
